Referendum - spireitematt - 26-11-2018

Dancing has proposed on "Chesterfield Predication League Matchday 22" the following.

"Why not give SGB (SaltergateBorn) a sporting chance and give him the total of Baggie Bob plus Bluepooch plus his own score ie 252? Neither of them are playing anymore and 1 extra in the comp makes it more interesting. He can play as SGBBBBP United."

I will put it to a vote on here.

RE: Referendum - SaltergateBorn - 27-11-2018

May I please give notice, Matt, to the effect that if the outcome of the referendum is not to my liking I shall immediately demand a People`s Vote.

RE: Referendum - St Charles Owl - 27-11-2018

I’m good with that.

RE: Referendum - Devongone - 27-11-2018

Has Baggie Bob retired, does anybody know what happened to Bluepooch (I tried emailing him with no response)?

I'm happy with anything that keeps people happy.

Apparently if we sentence our entire fishing fleet to death and reduce Gibraltar to a nuclear atoll the terms of the Predication League almost guarantee that no hard border will be built down either the Rother, or the Hipper as long as someone dressed in a tee-shirt agrees. I can't see SGB getting himself a better deal.

We obviously must ensure he is better off in than out. (And not shaking it all about ....)

RE: Referendum - Dancingwilldoit - 27-11-2018

Good with me so is a border along the River Rother (evict all Dee Dahs from our side, sorry Charles) and bombing Gibraltar - cheeky monkeys.

Baggie Bob retired about a month ago and Blue seems to have disappeared.
Maybe putting 2 and 2 together and making 7 but a couple of weeks ago I seem to remember a minutes applause for an Eaststander aged 57 on 57 minutes or could have been 58 or 59.
Didnt catch his name but wasnt Blue around that age? I know he was a bit younger than some of us. It was around a week or so after he last posted.
Hope not, so Blue if you are still out there just let us know. If not RIP mate, we didn't always see eye to eye but I will never forget the sight of your backside running up the street on numerous occasions.

You may be spending too much time amongst the Spanish .......

I've been wanting to suggest a really soft border - made of cotton-wool or jelly, so it wobbles and slides about in a gale.

RE: Referendum - SaltergateBorn - 27-11-2018

I hope very much you`re wrong, Dancing - about Blue, that is. There might be one way we could find out, though.

Presumably, the club will still have a record of the name of the person we had the minute`s applause for - one of us could ask - and wouldn`t the administrators of this site have Blue`s name? I`m pretty sure I gave mine when I first registered.

It does seem strange that he`s just disappeared so suddenly.

RE: Referendum - Devongone - 27-11-2018

I don't think he was the type just to disappear ........ without saying. And yes he was younger than me. He'd played with and against some of the same local footballers, but they were older men when he played them.

Derbyshire Times obits might be a clue if they still do them. He was Holmewood born and bred. Played at football for them. Had a son .........

RE: Referendum - Dancingwilldoit - 27-11-2018

Think it was at the Wrexham game which was 27th October when they had a minutes applause. Just looked and Blues last post was 16th October.

Ian Turner Born in Holmewood died aged 55 in Oct. CFC season ticket holder and enjoyed walking his dog. 1 minutes applause on 55 mins v Wrexham.

Dont know if its him because it says he only had a daughter. Worked at Donkins for some time.

RE: Referendum - Devongone - 28-11-2018

Maybe I'm confused about the son.

He had a dog. He enjoyed walking it. He couldn't get in the Clay Cross game because he had his dog with him!

I think it has to be him. Holmewood is too much of a coincidence. Lenny Carter and Mick Savile taught him football in Holmewood. They were quite a bit older than me when I was playing. Ten years down the line they'd have been washed up as players but they'd have been running the team.

Oh no! He never even knew his favourite young Joe Rowley got to be captain! RIP my friend.
