Ipswich vs WBA - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 21-11-2018

Not for the first time, the international break may have come at the wrong time for Albion as our 4-1 crushing of Leeds at the Hawthorns was followed by a fortnight off. However, we could hardly ask for a kinder return to action, as Friday night sees us venture to Portman Road to play bottom side Ipswich for the first time since they dumped RDM's Baggies out of one of our most promising cup runs of the modern age.

Of course, as we know from the trip up to Hull at the beginning of the month, what look like easy wins on paper can prove a nightmare in reality, especially for a team as weak on the road as Albion. However, if Big Dave can stick with the system that worked so well against Leeds, and if we can seize control of the game against Paul Lambert's men, there's no reason we shouldn't be hunting for three points here.

Probably, as we’ve often seen over many years with the Baggies, we play well against strong top teams and struggle against bottom teams.  It could be a banana skin.

Whistle

Seems our system and set-up against Leeds may not be repeated....

We’ve found a good system so I hope we’re not going to change back to playing with 3 centre backs and Phillips as an uncomfortable wing-back. I’d hate to see us change back to that and lose to Ipswich.

The only change I’d make is Barry in for Robson-Kanu with Phillips moving to the right wing. Harsh on Robson-Kanu I know but we could do with a more balanced midfield on Friday.

I just don’t get that. Either Graeme Jones has been misquoted or he’s talking nonsense when he says the tactics against Leeds were a one-off but we need to ‘break down’ the opposition. What did we do to Leeds if we didn’t break them down? 4-1 against a team he considered the best in the league. Applying pressure’s all well and good, but if we can counter attack that well, let’s do it.

On reading that from Graeme Potter, I’m taking it that he’s just saying tactics will vary, depending upon circumstance and the opposition. At least, that’s what I hope he’s saying. If not, and he’s actually inferring we’re back to our previous “three at the back, play it out with our magnificent ball playing central defenders”, then we’re back to square one and my despair has returned

Good news
Same team, same set up touch wood that played Leeds Thumb up
Unfortunately that means Gayle is on the bench.
Suppose no one deserved dropping though Huh

RE: Ipswich vs WBA - Match Thread - BaggieMan - 23-11-2018

Smile Unchanged team and formation Smile

C’mon you Baggies!
Let’s see us back to second in the league again albeit may be temporary

RE: Ipswich vs WBA - Match Thread - WBA-Josh - 23-11-2018

I hope it’s the same formation. I’m finding myself having trust issues with Darren and Jones at the moment.

Johnstone
Tosin - Dawson - Hegazi - Gibbs
Livermore
Phillips - Morrison
Robson-Kanu - Rodriguez - Barnes
