Rules 7.2 and 7.3 of the National League state this.

7.2 When playing away from home, clubs, must play in colours (shirt, shorts and socks) which are clearly distinguishable from those of their opponents and the Match officials, in particular the goalkeeper must play in kit clearly distinguishable from the colours of the shirts worn by all other players in the match and the Match Officials.

7.3 No Club shall be permitted to register or play in shirts the colour of which is likely to cause confusion with the outfits worn by the Match Officials (i.e black or dark blue)

Don't the match officials have a purple and yellow option as well as the blue or black?

No. All refs in non-league wear black. It's only in the Football League and Premier League they wear purple, yellow, green etc.

Apparently the kit was ordered back in September 2017. They may use it for the academy or save it for when we return to the Football League. Apparently 500 have already been ordered but there looking at appealing to the National League and asking for a special dispensation where the club will provide an alternative officials kit.

So if they knew there was a problem why did they proceed to advertise it on the website today ? You couldn't make it up !.
Yet another cock up !

They probably advertised it to help the case with the National League to get leeway on this. Imagine Carson saying, look we are skint, we ordered the shirts and advertised them before we were aware of the problem, give us a chance and as a token of our innocence here are 4 yellow tops for the refs at our games!!!

The away shirt will be orange next season with the black shorts and black socks. (Barnet colours)

Clever how they've managed to salvage something from the cock up .Apparently the black shirts are going on sale in the club shop .
The orange and black kit looks great .

The black shirts should be collectors' items - the shirts that never were.
