Evans - Salopbaggie - 03-05-2018

I was wondering if one of you oracles of knowledge could help me out with the answer to a question. According to the press virtually every team in the Premiership are interested in Johnny Evans, always accompanied by a report that he has a 3 million release clause in his contract.

Am I right in thinking that £3 million only has any relevance in that it would trigger the release clause, so if several clubs want him a bidding war could still happen and we could potentially still earn off him. Also if we receive two or three bids, which all meet the release clause, are we allowed to accept one and refuse the others (say there are 3 bids one for 10 mil, one for 5 mil, and one for 4 mil, could be just accept the 10mil bid and refuse the others) or is it all in Evans's own hands Huh

RE: Evans - 4evaabaggie - 03-05-2018

Not an Oracle but my interpretation is that a bid of three million triggers the release clause, Evans still gets the final say as to where he signs and plays ....... Yes we may get a twenty million bid from west ham but Evans wants man utd (theoretically speaking) they offer three million, we can not refuse ..........

Only my reading of the situation ....... could be wrong.

4Eva, I think you’re right. If we get a £3million bid, he gets to choose. I think it’s like the Lee Hughes/Coventry City situation of a few years ago

My understanding is that we will only get 3m even if all 20 clubs bid for him. He goes to the contract that suits him best but if 3million is the clause we can’t have a bidding war. Whoever signs him will pay us 3m and that’s it. You only get a bidding war if he’s under contract without a release clause.
