Proper Manager - turkeydinner - 09-04-2018 Dave King says Rangers boss Graeme Murty can "be proud" of his tenure as the chairman emphasised the club's need to make "the best appointment". Academy coach Murty was put in interim charge following Pedro Caixinha's dismissal in October. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43701003 Given the pressure and restrictions I think Murty has done well but is it a big enough name? You wonder if a Pardew or a Mcclaren might fancy it to try and improve their flagging CV`s RE: Proper Manager - hibeejim21 - 09-04-2018 I think he has done ok TD. He's an u-20s coach and shouldn't really be anywhere near that job. The problem he has is that the mob that support them expect to win week in/week out and that's a huge burden for a guy of his experience to handle. They could do a lot worse than let him carry on working with those players and see if he can improve them next season, but the huns arrogance means they are likely to go for a "name" manager like the ones you mention which means a huge load of cash they don't have spunked on players and salary when it inevitably goes pete tong. Rinse and repeat. RE: Proper Manager - turkeydinner - 12-04-2018 Absolutely spot on The names of former greats are hardly setting the Managerial world alight -McCall, McCullough, Weir etc I really believe Frank De Boer is a good manager and was treated badly at both Inter and even more so at Palace, however trying to implement Dutch style 4-3-3 with Ajax passing may be a step too far! He`s being linked with the Heerenveen job anyway which I think is a step down |
