The Premier League relegation run in - Lord Snooty - 08-04-2018

Well it's getting to that stage of the season where we need to have a look at who everybody else has left to play and do we think we have enough points to survive or not. I reckon Watford are safe, so just doing from Brighton downwards.

RE: The Premier League relegation run in - St Charles Owl - 08-04-2018

Its going to go down to the wire, here is what I think could happen:

Brighton - 0 points - Total 35 points
West Ham - 6 points - Total 40 points
Swansea - 7 points - Total 39 points
Town - 4 points - Total 36 points
Palace - 7 points - Total 38 points
Southampton 4 points - Total 32 points
Stoke - 1 point - Total 28 points
West Brom - 0 points - Total 21 points

So with those run-ins I think the bottom 3 as it stands will be the ones who go down, but there is only one surprise win in it for a couple of teams and that could all change!!!!

RE: The Premier League relegation run in - Lord Snooty - 08-04-2018

Swansea could hold the key to the end result with their last two fixtures being against Southampton and Stoke.

It all depends as well on how many teams have got their flip flops and swimming trunks on already. I think Leicester have and I'm hoping that Watford turn up on Saturday in theirs. Whistle

I can only see us picking a point up against Watford and then that's it...we're doomed !!!

Hopefully I'm wrong though

RE: The Premier League relegation run in - Lord Snooty - 09-04-2018

If it's possible for us to stay up with a record low points for staying up, then that's what we'll do. After all, we got up with a minus goal difference and didn't score a goal for ourselves in the three play off matches.

RE: The Premier League relegation run in - theo_luddite - 09-04-2018

I see Swansea and Stoke drawing, other than that I'll go with jjamez's prediction. The win against Wotfud being as much hope as realism to be honest. If we go in front early enough (whether it's the 1st minute or the 91st, I don't care as long as we do) then I think we could do them again. If we go behind ..... wasn't Saturday only our 2nd point of the season after going behind?

Having said that - not one of our last five opponents actually played like world beaters for 90 minutes this weekend did they? Some of them couldn't even do it for 45 minutes.

We are on 32 so likely need at least 2 points, preferably 4 or more. No reason not to take the 3 Blues and the Gooners on. only the lads from Smoke-on-Stench have a worse goal difference than us and it won't get better by losing 1-0 while sitting in our own half for 85 minutes. We might as well lose by 2 or 3 and go for it because I don't see Smoke getting enough points to equal our current or projected total anyway.

and another thing ......

in each of our last 5 games, the bottom 8 have won 5 games between them and only 2 in the last 3.

It's not impossible but it's highly unlikely any of us will go on a 2 points a game league winning (over the season) run of form, other than maybe Palace who have finished their run of games against the top lot. (jjamez pretty much has that covered too). Thumb up

RE: The Premier League relegation run in - JUSTASILLYOLDGIT - 09-04-2018

Since Watford beat Newcastle 3-0 away in November, they have played 10 times away, losing 9 and drawing just 1. In those 10 games they've scored only 2 goals. They haven't scored in the last 6. So, 3pts and almost safety in the bag then. Or.......... is this Town we're talking about.  Whistle
