Midfield for next season:

Burke, Morrison, field, brunt.

Experienced Pro's to bring on the youngsters.

Considering they were told to do nothing but defend under Pulis I'm hardly surprised tbh.

I said on the Southampton thread that at this point I'd like to see certain players dropped and players who will want to prove themselves starting in their place - we've nothing to lose so why not?

I would almost agree ...
Would like to add Mclean in their the way he played yesterday he will be a nightmare for most championship teams, if he doesn't do stupid things, pace on both wings, but Brunt needs to play because his set piece delivery could be crucial also Thumb up

Yep, I'll have that with McLean, he'll be a proper handful in championship, maybe a five man midfield with Burke and McLean as the attacking options.

This illustrates the problem with the balance of the squad. There's far too many midfield stoppers for 2 roles.

Nacer Chadli is arguably our best goalscoring midfielder and did score in his only start of the season at Leicester away. Unfortunately him and Mozza, who ranks #2, have spent most of the time injured or in the cold (Under Pulis).

The majority of the others have never been prolific, even when playing for successful sides.

I do feel Phillips would chip in with a few more if we played 4-5-1 so he had a bit more freedom to break the lines. Neither Pulis' all out defence or Pardew's rigid 4-4-2 lend themselves to midfielders being allowed to roam off the forward.

RE: Our Midfield ......... - TheAstleBridge - 19-02-2018

FOSTER, DAWSON, GABR, HEGAZI, GIBBS, YACOB, LIVERMORE, BRUNT, PHILLIPS, CHADLI, RONDON.

For me Chadli owes us another season as he done bugger all this year whilst picking up a huge pay cheque,
I`d also be going all out to keep Rondon as he`d score bucket loads in the Championship.
