Man City vs WBA - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 29-01-2018

"But can they do it on a wet Wednesday afternoon at Maine Road?"; Albion warm up at Man City, 1st March 1972

In the aftermath of the best Albion game in years, there's no time to savour the continuing cup run as our fight against relegation enters its hardest chapter with a visit to Manchester City on Wednesday.

Our recent momentum aside, City are an imperious team this year, we're dogged by injuries and fatigue and the Etihad is a notoriously poor hunting ground for us. With a must-win fixture against Southampton coming on Saturday, it may well be that we just have to limit the damage to our goal difference in this one and save our energy for the match that really counts.

However, if we do manage to take something then it would be in keeping with our performances so far in 2018, and give us an immense boost at the best possible time. After Saturday, we can dare to dream.

City played Sunday, and there may be a touch of the 'turn up and we'll win" attitude that Liverpool had against Swansea and us .....
....yeh - clutching at straws. As you say Ska'd, the important game is at the weekend. Give all the fringe players a game ......oh, hang on, have we got any?

I wouldn’t be surprised if we nicked something out of this game given the buoyant feeling around the club right now.  Yes I know City are at another level but as with Liverpool, they can be beaten and drop points. We simply will not allow them to play their pacey, skilful game and we will come away with a single point.

Whistle

I know my predicting skills are crap and I was way off the the mark with the Liverpool game, so I'm going for Citeh to win 3-0.

(actually losing by no more than two goals wouldn't be that bad given that goal difference could be crucial at the end of the season)

Anyone know what the injury situation is?
Gibbs, Evans, HRK all had probs.....

The way things are panning out tonight, we'll be at the bottom going into this game, with only a win moving us off it Rolleyes

Bottom with City next. Never has a game on Sat become so important.
Swansea shown what confidence can do for a team. Fair play to them and now we have 9 other teams shitting themselves.

Although it does not good everything has tightened up big time,
We have only lost 1 in 7 amazing really Huh
But a win on Saturday and half the table will be just a win away,
I'm still confident even after our annual Man City thumping tomorrow Whistle

On a lighter note ,..............

Tony Pulis always was an appointment to get Boro fans on their feet... His first four home games in charge:

0-1
0-1
0-1
0-0 Laugh

He wasn’t in the squad tonight. I haven’t seen much of him.
