Dundee v Hibs, Wed 24 Jan, KO 7.45pm - 0762 - 24-01-2018

We'll discover tonight if Hibs are gonna fall into another January 'form dip' or if Lenny can quickly 'freshen up' the team and just push on positively to winning matches. Firstly, I perceive we don't play Efe in a full back position any more after his dismal performance at the PBS where Dylan had to spend a lotta his midfield time covering Efe's poor form on our right flank. Darren Mac and Paul H were stalwarts and that partnership does not need to be altered. Stevo? He'd better play well tonight or his 'coat is on a shoogly peg' IMO! I would not tamper too much with our midfield which is generally Hibs 'strong point'. However, I'd like to see what Maclaren has to offer 'up top' alongside Simon Murray with Boyly being one of their main feeds on our right flank. I wanna see positivity and a positive 'will to win'; I wanna see goals being scored and good goal opps not being scorned! We should have won the previous fixture at Dens Park and lets hope Hibs win it this time.

GGTTH

We would be better going to a back 3 for this. Play boyle and barker out wide.

3 points would be most welcome, last time we were up there we played them off the park and only got a point.

Stokesy back in training and apparently 'pushing for a place' in tonight's game (Lenny quote) - the 'plot thickens' eh! Rolleyes

FT 0-1 and Hibs earn 3 precious pts at this stage of the season and stop any chance of that feared 'dip in form'! Thumb up I am delighted with the win but less enamoured with Hibs inability to finish off an opposing footie team that was 'begging to be finished off' by a justifiable 2 or 3 more goals!! Murray just 'can't score for toffee' and scorning chance after chance + an open goal - murder and making the art of goal scoring look difficult! Barker 'in the same boat' and there is something far wrong at 0-1 and running through on the Dundee goalkeeper to 'make the game safe' - another player lacking that requisite conviction and belief that he will score that goal, nae bother - very irritating and making life more difficult for a Hibs side that should have been 'out of sight' after 70 mins. Over 20 corners taken by Hibs players and that skill of taking a corner kick effectively must be sorted out because it was not good enough!!! Also good to see Rocky in fine form with some great saves to deny Dundee any chance of 'nicking an undeserved draw' but we really should be 'putting these games to bed'!

Thought it was a decent enough team performance, don't think dundee were as threatening as some are making out and we were certainly the better team. Murray will have nightmares about THAT miss and barker could have had 2 easily. They both played well though.

5 points off 2nd place,38 points in the bag. Only celtic have lost less games...... To think some fans were actually wanting lennon sacked after sunday. Doh

We are doing just fine in our first season back up.

I agree with Jim, we were the better side but aren't able to finish games off when in control. Hard work is one thing, but we really need a striker with a bit of composure and guile. The trouble is anyone who fills that bill would be out of our financial reach.

Ambrose is now much too casual. Tonight he ran the ball into a dead end, losing the ball midway inside our own half and, right at the end, needlessly gave away possession with a foul throw.

Agreed. Its been the missing part of the puzzle for a while now though. I'd also say that we generally are good for a goal but at 1-0 we are always vulnerable, not because our defenders are that bad more because they are up against a much better class of forward this season.

Aye, ambrose is a player that looks amazing one minute, and a total diddy the next. He totally lost that Dundee boy in the box near the end.

I think Rocky deserves that additional praise for his solid performance last night and I thought it would take a 'special goal' to beat him. He has previously been at the brunt of some severe criticism from Hibs fans and it is good to see that positive side of goalkeeping bolstering Hibs defence and ensuring another 'clean sheet'.

I thought he made one smart save and the rest were kind of routine stops.

Maybe after bain's arrival he has realised he has to "up his game" ?

Over the last two games (Hearts &Dundee) we have missed 4 really good chances, one that could give us a replay at home and 3 against Dundee that would put us out of sight.
The one against Hearts, when the score was 0-0 cost us dearly the chances against Dundee less so but spurred them on and made it difficult for us.
My view is that at some point everything is going to click for us and somebody will lose 4 or 5 goals to us.
That can`t come quick enough Celtic would be an ideal time.
