Jurgen Locadia - turkeydinner - 20-01-2018 14m isn't a lot of money nowadays but probably is for Brighton Dutch Strikers in the EPL have hardly been superb last few years given the form of Vicent Janssen and Luuk de Jong So why Locadia, another flop? A much more revitalized PSV this year, Locadia has often led the central striker role due to the normally reliable Luuk de Jong`s huge barren spell at the beginning of the season, much before the case was Locadia forced to play as a winger/wide forward but far more prefers central striker role, great at holding the ball up and bringing others into play(Hence Hirving Lozano`s great goal tally this season) Should work well in Brighton`s 4-3-3 system(The Dutch norm) and will be re-united with another former PSV title winner in Davy Propper RE: Jurgen Locadia - TheDaddy - 21-01-2018 There's been a string of Dutch flops over the last few years, I'll stick my neck out and say this is another who won't be able to make the step up in quality RE: Jurgen Locadia - St Charles Owl - 21-01-2018 I think he will just be another one of those strikers who comes to the prem and ends up getting about 10 goals a season. Rondon, Gabbiadini, Diouf, Joselu, Mounie, Benteke, Afobe etc etc etc. are all decent players but they won’t score as many as their teams would like them to most seasons. Besides, teams just don’t create enough chances these days unless you are in the top 6, so what is a good season for a striker these days?? I often think these lower half prem teams would be better raiding the lower leagues for a striker and giving one of them a punt because I reckon some of them would also get 10 or so goals and would save the club 20m in the process. RE: Jurgen Locadia - turkeydinner - 22-01-2018 Not going terribly well for the Dutch in England Van Dijk how many articles I read when he played for Celtic not good enough for the EPL (!), Blind and Wijnaldum done ok, big hopes for Riedwald at Palace and Fonsu Mensah at Utd Dutch National team certainly isn't as bad as form suggests, too many players used, lacking in a few positions Though hardly covered themselves in glory last few years: Advocaat, Frank de Boer, Van Gaal, Narsingh, Depay, Luuk de Jong, Siem de Jong, Van Ginkel, Berghuis, Klassaan, Clasie, Janssen etc |
