No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - Devongone - 28-12-2017 It sounds as though Ian Evatt is out for the season ....... at best. The suggestion is this injury could be the end of his career, which I'm sure we'd all be very sorry about. He was a mainspring of our revival. His form was good and his influence on those around him was very positive. Internally our only replacement is young Marshall Willock and he's obviously long-term. Maguire, Dylan Hand, Conor Fowler and Jay Smith, however well they develop, they all seem destined to partner an Evatt, rather than become one. There's a suggestion we might bring in a Notts County player who can't make their team, which fails to inspire me. I must admit the number of players we are losing either forever, or long periods of time, is beginning to sound like a death knell. My suggested signings are Ryan Astles of Chester and Gallifuoco from Dover, who is really more of a Sam Hird. Since being released by Wigan Astles has never merited a fee, and moved from Rhyl to Northwich to Chester, where several lower league clubs are taking a keen interest. He wouldn't be free now, but our advantage would be that he'd know he was going to get a game, which at 23 he'll need. Maybe you'd rather play safer with a back number at a league club, who needs another chance? RE: No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - Dancingwilldoit - 29-12-2017 By all accounts Willock is injured. Wiseman played centre back for Scunthorpe but a Wiseman Hird combo doesn't exactly excite. At the end of the day it will all boil down to budget. If we still have to pay Evatts and Lees wages to the end of their contracts I cant see us having loadsamoney, so expect a few loanees and that will be about all we will get. RE: No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - bluepooch - 29-12-2017 Unless Mike Ashley gives Jack a huge war chest .... RE: No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - Devongone - 29-12-2017 The only reason our current owner would go to his pocket now is for a hankie. Any new owner would be too late on the scene to finance a window for us. So it's either loans and freebies, or sell Dennis / Rowley (and then amazingly allow Jack to reinvest in the team, which we never do, but these are extraordinary circumstances). RE: No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - bluepooch - 29-12-2017 I'm hearing Nathan Thomas and Haydn Hollis but its only a rumour not one of my usual sources RE: No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - bluepooch - 30-12-2017 So that idiot Carson just posted a message saying 'Ill do all I can but be mindful if it does not happen !' Why say anything in the first place then idiot attention seeker ! ?? Why not just wait until the deal is done ?? RE: No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - Devongone - 30-12-2017 He loves himself Pooch .......... Must say Haydn Hollis is not inspiring prospect, but much depends on how much heart and soul he brings. We don't just need someone who is available and lives close ......... we need someone who wants to win and the only way to judge him on that score is to see him on the field.. RE: No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - spireitematt - 30-12-2017 What I don't understand is he told Derbyshire Times it was a done deal but then went on bobs board last night and said. "I'll do all I can but be mindful if it does not happen". Now call me cynical but is there a deal or is this all smoke and mirrors rather like the Chancellor's budget. I say this because if there was a deal why tell the media before it's been signed and include the bit about non-refundable deposit in the article. Is this to build the fan's hopes up and then when or if it falls through we then have to start selling players like Dennis and Rowley. If it is true and goes through will they bring in a new manager or keep Jack? Will the club have to change its colours from blue to red because red is lucky in China? RE: No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - Dancingwilldoit - 30-12-2017 2 more empty seats in the East Stand today. Both down with a bloody stomach bug. Couldn't even give the tickets away - nobody bothered !! Re the AC comments, I think he's just winding Bobs Board members up - it doesn't take a lot. It seems the deal is done but still great secrecy over what the deal actually is. One strong rumour is that DA is retaining the ground, I hope to god that's not true, we just want rid completely. If the other rumours are true Matt, Argentina play in Blue so I wouldn't worry about going temporarily colour blind. Just seen the team sheet, O'Grady out Dimaio in, no other changes, hope its not 3 at the back again - we will get murdered. RE: No Evatt, What's the Next Step? - bluepooch - 31-12-2017 It was a decent game for a nil nil ,we probably just edged it with good performances from Eastwood ,Weir,Wiseman and Reed but everyone did ok against a well organised and difficult to beat team who have only lost 2 in 16 .Only one more game to go before Jack can start to impose his own team . |
