Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - Devongone - 19-12-2017 4,000 painkillers to get you onto the field to play football. 4,000 painkillers to never reach the top level of your sport. 4,000 painkillers to play a position in which your actual involvement might be 10 to 20 touches of the ball a game. Tommy Lee says he took 4,000+ painkillers in his career. Every manager, coach and medic at the club must have colluded in that. I now understand why Danny Wilson let Tommy play that last game of the season at Bradford with the already injured shoulder that eventually finished his career. It made no sense before. It was just business as usual wasn't it? Tommy Lee, Whittington Moor's very own Judy Garland? RE: Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - Dancingwilldoit - 19-12-2017 Same agent as Justin Gatlin? RE: Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - bluepooch - 20-12-2017 Valley of the Dolls .I seem to remember it was a film starring Sharon Tate who became a victim of the Manson family. Just a little titbit there. RE: Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - Dancingwilldoit - 20-12-2017 How old are you Blue? I thought you were a mere slip of a lad compared to Dev and I. RE: Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - bluepooch - 20-12-2017 I was 55 last week although I dont act it ,(got that in before you Dancing). That film probably was before my time but I am interested in 60s culture and 70s music for me is the best decade. You obviously weren't reading my conversation with Dev about local football in the late 70s / 80s. RE: Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - Devongone - 20-12-2017 Pooch being 55 you were young enough to run away from Savile and Carter ......... they could still run a bit when I had to play against them ........ You should READ Valley of the Dolls, Jacqueline Suzanne I think. It was based on a star modelled on Judy Garland who was pumped full of drugs by the studio system and ended up staggering on stage in London unable to remember the words just before her death at only 46 was it? The thing that gets me about the 4,000 painkillers is Tommy is clearly an intelligent man, yet he was so desperate he was prepared to go these lengths, yet the punters on Bob's readily slag players off as non-triers with little idea of what they are putting themselves through even to get out on the pitch. RE: Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - Dancingwilldoit - 20-12-2017 Yes I did read it but just assumed you were a bit younger. The Valley of the Dolls was overrated as a statement of the times IMO. Films generally in the 60's were pretty god awful. 1 or 2 good ones tho - The Graduate, Guess Who's coming to Dinner and for me the era of the Spaghetti Westerns with Clint Eastwood. That was when we lost hundreds of flea pits up and down the country because the films were so bad. It wasn't until the 70's that films came good again. RE: Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - Devongone - 20-12-2017 I didn't like the film version! Report from the Derbyshire Times coming through that The Owls are about to recall our Keeper! RE: Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - bluepooch - 20-12-2017 Unbelieveable isnt it .We have never got on top of the keeper position for two seasons . Hearing weve signed someone already . How old are you two ? and dont lie or ill know ..said Hannibal Lecter to Clarisse Starling RE: Tommy Lee in The Valley of the Dolls - Dancingwilldoit - 21-12-2017 Dev is about a year older than me so I will let him be the one to get eaten. |
