Not surprised. He only hung on so long because of the tricky financial position they were in.

I was saying at the weekend that with his record of only winning once at home in a seasons worth of games he'd have been sacked by now anywhere else. Oops!!

RE: Lee Clark - St Charles Owl - 20-10-2014

I think it should be difficult for him the find employment anywhere near the top of the game again!! But there is always a chairman somewhere who will look at the unbeaten run he had at Huddersfield and think he has something in him!! As Amelia said, had they not been strapped for cash, he would have gone a lot earlier!!

Aye, but as he pointed out in his press conference this morning, because they are strapped for cash he was having to make do with picking up playas that have all been relegated to or were otherwise playing in League 1.
Who ever comes in is not going to have a couple of million to spend let alone 10 or 20.

Thought Hughton had it bad there with his team of Free transfers but Clark has had it even worse,i`d have to ask the Huddersfield board what they think of him as a manager certainly he looked very good when he got that winning streak for them(mind you Steve Mcmahon at Swindon)

Didnt Brum pay Christophe Dugarry astronomical wages back in the EPL days?

RE: Lee Clark - theo_luddite - 21-10-2014

That long unbeaten streak became a millstone round our necks. He set up not to lose rather than to win about half-way through it. Our stat man Mirf can fill you full of all kinds of stuff to say how good he was but by the time we got shut many of us were glad to see the back of him. The standard of play was awful and we looked like we were going backwards. I doubt he knew who his best starting 11 was on his last day at work let alone his first one. He didn't get us promoted and we'll never know if he would have done, but the guy that made the decision, our Chairman didn't think he'd get us up so he got rid.

Summed it all up when he left his top goal scorer (Rhodes) on the bench for the play-off final v Posh until we were 3 down with the game lost and played with a defensive set up rather than an attacking one. Should have gone then to be honest.

What goes around comes around - he's followed it up with a season's worth of home games with only one win - v Brighton who we are playing tonight.

That's only my opinion, other's can and will throw their two pen'orth in if they wish.
