Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - Devongone - 10-11-2017 Where next, fkkkkin Alton Towers? ![]() How to destroy talent part two. Sixteen goals by early November for Frickley; we might think that striker could be worth looking at ...... it's Jacob Hazel. He made the first team, got fobbed off into useless local loans, finally was sent to cool his heels in Norway before his exit from the club. He's probably just recovering a few years down the line. That was how to destroy talent part one. Nothing really changes. When we're in the Vanarama we'll still act like Chesterfield. Even Jack Lester won't change that. RE: Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - bluepooch - 11-11-2017 He looks overweight Dev or is it muscle ? This may explain why Jack hasn't favoured him ,maybe not the best trainer ? Just an opinion of course ,I have no facts . RE: Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - Devongone - 11-11-2017 I said before I think Ricky looks like a big guy who needs muscle definition AT LEAST! If he is overweight what does that say about the training under GC and so far Under Jack's men? Surely we weigh our players and check their diets? If we want him to lose weight, we should make him train more and harder. He should be in the gym working with weights. If he doesn't want to do that and would rather be the best fat forward in the Northern Prem' then we should be cancelling his contract by mutual agreement. Okay, sending him to Sheffield and Matlock gets him a game we RIDICULOUSLY can't provide between Juniors and first team ........ but if there's a problem it does nothing to solve it. In fact if it makes him unhappy we'll make him fatter not thinner! Why did Kevin Davies come to Chesterfield as a fifteen year old? The Blunts thought he was too fat. By the time he was 16 he was getting double-marked in Division One. Football always pays lip-service to man-management but when it comes down to it managers, coaches and fans will almost always blame the individual, not the organisation. Last night England played Germany (the best team in the world) and clearly the best player on the park was Loftus-Cheek, who Chelsea send out on loan. How good does a young player have to be to break through from their Juniors? Was John Terry the last player to manage it? I just reckon if you see talent you look at ways to develop it, open up avenues rather than block off whole roads, or send it down dead ends! If there's problem with Ricky German, try to solve the problem, don't just come up with the scrapheap solutions that turned Jacob Hazel into a 16-goal man for Frickley ...... How is Charlie Wakefield feeling back in the Juniors, what's Brownell thinking back after doing very well at Sheffield? What if Joe Rowley goes off the boil, will we suddenly forget all that promise and assume he just became too big for his boots? I think Jack Lester is far better than that. He is a highly intelligent man. Getting to the fat bottom of what is going on with Ricky German, sorting it out and giving Chesterfield its next centre forward might be a significant achievement in his new career. RE: Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - Dancingwilldoit - 11-11-2017 The photo doing the rounds was from a pre season friendly. That was a long time ago. He was also our top scorer in the pre season friendlies so what does that say? I hope for his sake he shows what he can do. Feel sorry for the lad being pissed about by the morons running our club. Why not just leave him at Alfreton where he was getting game time and scoring goals ????? RE: Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - Devongone - 11-11-2017 Alfreton? - money. They were happy with him, but didn't want to dip into their pockets every Friday tea time. It is very difficult for non-scientists to judge what someone's natural body shape is. Also those commenting on Ricky's fitness haven't a clue how to judge it. It might be Ricky went into the gym and bench-pressed the equivalent of 7 Steve Evanses like Akinfenwa ......... But to my amateur eye Ricky still looks puppy-fattish in every clip I've ever seen of him - he's a young man, still developing, even still growing but that's our job as a club. When they are training Anthony Joshua they don't send him into the ring with a little paunch and a couple of bingo wings, you look at him and say wow! Unfortunately there does have to be a problem with Ricky . I'd have believed GC capable of any idiocy in team selection (and he matched my every expectation), but Jack has to be aware that Ricky is one of the VERY few players on our books with ANY potential to score goals and he is willing to let him go to Matlock. (It would be great though if he could score 4 this afternoon against Nantwich.) RE: Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - Dancingwilldoit - 11-11-2017 Has he gone on loan to ply his trade and get better or to save the club a few bob? I cant believe for 1 minute that Matlock will pay more than Alfreton for a good strikers services. RE: Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - bluepooch - 11-11-2017 Whatever the reason for going out on loan , its Jacks choice at the end of the day and in Sir Jack we trust . We are scoring goals even if the majority is from one player but I agree we do need other options . Update .Jak Mcourt looks to have a few goals in him ... RE: Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - Devongone - 13-11-2017 McCourt is out-performing all my expectations. He was 1 goal in 40 games before he came to us. Unfortunately we do need a couple more players to discover goalscoring potential and deliver on it. As things stand Dennis has never to be injured, avoid being sold and grab 25+ goals for the season for us to get near the high fifties in goals we'll need to avoid the drop. I'd like to know how many players we've sent out on useless loans to Matlock, Alfreton and Sheffield over the last few years and how many of those players found a place in any EFL first team. I'm thinking in terms of ZERO! That's why I don't blindly trust Jack, because he hasn't had time yet to overhaul all the idiot structures behind a failing club. Port Vale's Neil Aspin just sent two young players out on loan, to where .... Halifax, where a challenging level of football might bring them on. And Aspin has been responsible for bringing through loads of talent from non-league to EFL success in the last few years. If Ricky is going to be ANY USE TO US, by next season he has to be at least a Vanarama centre forward. Brownell and Charlie Wakefield need also to be at least that good. Ideally they'd be Div 2 standard and we'd be there too. If Port Vale can find decent Vanarama loans why can't we? Marshall Willock at Kettering is a great loan for him to start out on, but we'll want him to be stepping up on his next loan. How about back at Solihull for a month for instance. If there is a problem with Ricky or any of our youngsters our advantage is we're small. We should be able to pick it up and deal with it ........ and that doesn't mean we give the same answer every time ...... he's not performing send him to Alfreton. Maybe Ricky needs carrot not stick, maybe even a diet of carrots would be good! It should be just big clubs who carry out development as if it were an industrial process and end up with Reece Mitchells littered about the non-league scene, but we are still mimicking them and it is a recipe for permanent failure. I think Jack Lester is an intelligent and creative man. I want him not only to keep his eye on our first team's immediate plight, but also to do something about the black hole between Juniors and First Team into which so many of our youngsters fall. We have talent available, why carefully nurture it until it hits 17+ then behave as if it is sink or swim from here on in, time to man up boyo! JACOB HAZEL SCORED TWO MORE FOR FRICKLEY ON SATURDAY. 18 goals before mid-November, let's buy him or maybe we could just learn the lesson. The answer to your question Dancing is Ricky hasn't gone to Matlock to learn to ply his trade, and saving a few bob may only be a happy side effect. Football clubs aren't allowed to administer punishment beatings ........... that's why he's at Matlock. The message to Ricky is shape up or ship out. IMO he'd learn more about being a centre forward by chatting to Bob Newton in the bar. RE: Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - spireitematt - 13-11-2017 I just don't understand why they don't give him a chance in the first team instead of sending him on loan to several clubs. I'm guessing he will train full time with Chesterfield and play matches for Matlock. RE: Ricky Goes To Matlock - Norway next? - Devongone - 13-11-2017 I imagine so too, but wouldn't you think training with a different outfit and having a proper experience of another club would bring him on - not this strange halfway house with teams that aren't really good enough for the stage a player like Ricky should be at in his career. At least I could see sense in a Halifax or a Solihull loan. Clinton Morrison went to Matlock, Jake Beesley too ........ it seems like our loan of last resort ....... and it doesn't help when you get to a new team who then play almost your entire debut with ten men! I just don't see why we invest money in young players and then throw it away. Did Tendayi go to Matlock? I can remember him having pretty dispiriting loans. |
