Today - bluepooch - 28-10-2017 Another small step forward. Its great to see us finish games strongly and come from behind, something we basically haven't done since Paul Cook days .This obviously has something to do with improved fitness levels. Best performances yet from Weir ,Barry and Mcourt proving that Jacks regime is paying off. We just had a 15 minute period after the break where we could seem to do anything right and an equaliser was inevitable .However last 20 we really went for it and young Rowley came back to something like the form he showed last season ,taking it to them single handedly on a number of occasions. All in all happy with the way things are going despite not getting the results yet . RE: Today - Dancingwilldoit - 29-10-2017 Good game but we really do have stop being so sloppy when in possession. A number of times Weir McCourt and Wiseman gave the ball away when under no pressure. We also need to cut out the habit we have of 1 step forward 2 steps back when attacking. The number of times we ended up going backwards when we had worked our way into good positions was just crazy. It was something Lester mentioned in his interview so hopefully he can do something about it. When we actually attacked them they were worried. The run from Rowley was just superb and deserved a goal. We deserved to win it as I honestly couldn't remember Lee making a single save from a shot on target but their keeper and the woodwork were kept very busy. RE: Today - Devongone - 29-10-2017 The stats looked more promising at least. We bossed possession and got the most shots off it too. It still looks a very odd side to me on paper. BUT whatever selection I come up with looks odd too. That's just GC's legacy I suppose, but we did field four full backs and two centre backs. And we still conceded two. And maybe that's why we look sloppy in possession, a proper midfielder looks after the ball. But yes fighting back with a late goal is always a good sign. Not having to come back is even better though. But then I didn't expect Jack to turn us straight round. We weren't like Barnsley the other year, potentially a very good side in need of an electric shock. Our squad is/was poor to dreadful, but we can get fitter and more organised and play to a plan all the players understand and agree with. |
