Dylan Hand - bluepooch - 11-10-2017 Apparently attracting interest from Southampton and Forest among others . What I cant understand is if he is that good why the f*ck arent we playing him ? RE: Dylan Hand - Dancingwilldoit - 12-10-2017 Bloody hell Blue you really have turned a full circle. Playing our own youngsters whatever next? RE: Dylan Hand - Devongone - 12-10-2017 Well so far with a team widely populated by other teams' players we amassed 12 points last season and have grabbed another 5 this. The only point in paying the wages of loanees is to WIN some games. We are throwing money away. If we don't play Maguire and loan out Marshall Willock, we aren't going to play Dylan Hand or Connor Fowler who are both apparently quite promising too. We don't score any goals but we don't play Ricky German. Forest and Southampton both have excellent youth programmes and do want to give young players a chance. We can't really compete with them, EXCEPT by proving that we DO give games to youngsters like Joe Rowley who shouldn't be the exception - he should be the rule. Why lose all the time with other people's players and signings in whom you've so little confidence you give them the shortest contract possible? Glad to see we're slowly converting you Pooch. RE: Dylan Hand - bluepooch - 12-10-2017 Please tell me where ive said we shouldnt play youngsters .Ive always said if they are good enough they are old enough and Ive always been a big advocate of Rowley and Wakefield.Come on lads you know this . Obviously Ive never seen Dylan play so cant make a judgement but clearly the established players arent doing it and seeing as we cant bring anyone in we have nothing to lose but to try some of the youngsters until the window opens . RE: Dylan Hand - Devongone - 13-10-2017 Oh dear Pooch I don't want to upset you because you are a great guy, but what else were you doing throughout the back end of last season when we had no chance of staying up and you were still giving your support to SEB at centre forward? Read your own posts. You even told me Ricky German needed to grab his chance - but he's started just one game ever and never got a game under GC, so he's had nothing to grab, despite his 11 goals in under 3 weeks. We had nothing to play for other than to develop a team for this season ...... Dancing and I were crying out for OUR youngsters to take the place of failing loanees all the time ...... and you stuck to the GC route. True you were full of Joe Rowley (can't remember you being sold enough on Charlie that you even uttered a whimper when I told you he was being pushed right out of contention, as he has been) but Dancing and I were crying out for Maguire, who only eventually got games because of his successful loan, we'd have played Wakefield and German too alongside Joe. We thought those games, had they played them, would have them ALL ready for this season. You see we think Dylan Hand is going to look at what the young lad in front of him is doing - well that's Maguire and he's getting frozen out of the first team, whether rightly or wrongly. One of Dylan Hand's rivals, Willock has got a good loan going too. Dylan is likely to think that he'll get just as much chance at Southampton ..... We think the one advantage that being small and a bit crap gives us is that though we may not be able to give all the training advantages of a big club, we are ideally positioned to blood him and others in the first team. To give him games the moment he's ready. For a young centre back that can difficult physically . On Bob's Board they don't think Maguire isn't big enough ....... but I think he may be bigger than Hand. Willock looks as though he'd he difficult to knock around, but any young centre back is going to face a very physical challenge. My opinion is our promising youngsters need above all to see other youngsters playing league football for us. They specifically don't want loaned in players to take potential places from them - especially when the team loses anyway. And why it gets my goat so much is that the dream for any club developing young players is to come up with a centre forward, because they earn you the biggest big bucks .......... they can change your whole club's fortunes. And why would a young centre forward choose US when our latest product is progressing backwards and we've shown every sign of favouring old men whose careers are dying and loaned-in Premier League strugglers ........? Dimaio and Brewster would at the least be bench players. Reece Mitchell would be getting a big shock when in every training game he was playing at full back and wing back ..... Kellett would be gone, Lou Reed too, Flores and sadly young Diego too unless he wanted to sign in January, because we've been paying them to win us games and they haven't. But that's just me. Imagine had we played Ricky last season and he'd shown us something, we wouldn't have plunged a big wage on O'Grady who is taking us out of the league, because either he can't play with us, or we can't play with him. Had Charlie got even 7 or 8 games, would we plumped for the dire midfielders we've signed? Had we stuck by Maguire would we be worrying about the centre of a defence in which far the best player is a seriously-injured loanee? RE: Dylan Hand - bluepooch - 13-10-2017 The difference between me and you two is that you are willing to give all the youngsters a chance in the first team regardless of their ability whereas I am more selective .I cant comment on Dylan as I havent seen him but If the bigger clubs are after him then surely he should be close to getting a game in a struggling team .Same goes for Wakefield and possibly German. I have to have faith in Jacks judgement on the young'uns after all it is what he does . RE: Dylan Hand - Dancingwilldoit - 14-10-2017 If they are good enough for a contract then surely they are deemed good enough? If they didn't have ability they wouldn't still be here. The only way they will ever get better is by getting game time with the first team. O'Grady is just another SEB, stealing a wage and seeing out his career. We should have learned a lesson last season buy hey ho. We really do have a pot of promising youngsters for the first time I can remember and it would be sacrilege to ignore them. As Dev says give them a chance and then the ones coming up behind can see there is light at the end of the tunnel and a crowd cheering them on to better things. RE: Dylan Hand - Devongone - 14-10-2017 It isn't only a matter of the ability of the young player, it is also a matter of the inability and even disinterest of the player/s placed ahead of them. For the first time in my lifetime we have several young players whose ability and performance at lower levels suggests they are at least pushing for first team recognition. At the same time we have our most unsuccessful team ever, from which NONE of our players could complain about being dropped. Can anyone seriously tell me that Jak McCourt is way, or even slightly ahead, of either Connor Dimaio or Charlie Wakefield in ability, that Chirs O'Grady, who last week contributed just one shot off target and conceded four free kicks, is a way ahead of Ricky German or Delial Brewster or Gozie Ugwu? I'd be very wary of sticking Dylan Hand in the first team now on grounds of his physique alone. He could get knocked around and knocked off his game. He's 17. But I saw Rio Ferdinand play at Chesterfield for Bournemouth at 17 and told my disbelieving mates that we'd seen an England captain. I'd seen something they hadn't, which didn't always, or even often, happen - I'm not that good! With a centre back you've got to be careful when you introduce him if you can, but you also have to remember Mascherano plays there at 5'8" and what's he weigh what, 10 or 11 stone? I just think our recent failure is actually an opportunity we've almost totally wasted so far, except perhaps with what we have done with Joe Rowley ....... I really do think that if you loan players in you do it for one purpose, to improve your team and WIN games. We've loaned in players to be the worst team in the country. That's daft. Ditch them. Even if you remain the worst team in the country it has to be better to be developing your own players rather than someone else's. I'd like our young players to be coming through on merit to play alongside mature players who were keen, interested and who sometimes won. But I'm convinced you only get better by playing and if the first team is full of crap, find out which youngsters can make that leap and which don't. There'll be players who aren't good enough, Jake Beesley and Dieservwue are both on the bench in the National League now ...... but what if we'd had the new Jamie Vardy and the only game we ever gave him we'd got Chris Morgan to tell him to run about and kick everything that moves .........? We can give young players a chance. And we could win doing it. But we have to be clever, set our stall out to do it, and not judge the young players only on their first attempt to make the transition. And we have to give them a worthwhile destination to make that transition TO. If we let ourselves become an East Stirling then the seventeen year old breaking through won't be achieving much and will know it. RE: Dylan Hand - Dancingwilldoit - 14-10-2017 Just seen todays team, seriously disappointed bloody O'Grady again? RE: Dylan Hand - Dancingwilldoit - 14-10-2017 Not sure whats going on today. Stats look shocking. We are 2 down and have not had a corner? Jack Lester has just picked up where Caldwell left off - no idea whatsoever. For gods sake ditch all the no hopers including Anyon and lets start again with the youth team. |
