Not sure exactly what this is trying to fix?? Transfer windows are unsettling for players and clubs and it does make sense on paper to have it all done by the time the games start but if all the foreign leagues are still going to be open for business for a further 3 weeks or so, then unsettled players looking to move abroad will still be unsettled when the season starts!! Condensing the window will certainly make clubs move earlier, but again if you are looking at a foreign player and there is interest from other foreign clubs, then the PL teams will have to outbid them earlier to get the signing done and that may see teams overpaying for players to get the deal done.

As I say, it makes sense but not sure what if anything this will fix.

St Charles all very good points well presented ..... Not sure if unilateral closing of the window will help. It may cause foreign teams to do business early as they know once our season starts our clubs won't sell as they are unable to replace them. Squads will be set before the real action kicks off ..... players know they're going nowhere until January, may encourage players to perform but equally they could sulk. Not sure how I feel about it.

No doubt it will cause new problems and possibly inflate prices further.

But at least in the UK (Premier League) we will know what our squad is at the start of the season and that, for me, is the critical piece and it gets fixed.

Not so sure stairs ............. imagine, season starts so our window shuts ............ 30th of August PSG, Barcelona etc etc come in for our DM with an offer of £50m + .......... could you see us or any other medium or small premier league club saying no!. You then lose one maybe two star players ..... Robson and Mosses for example ..... your squad balance has changed with no chance to replace missing elements ...... half season plan torn up and thrown out the window.

Will chairmen / owners be strong enough to resist a large offer ...... or fill their pockets.

I know other countries Windows are open at different times to us but regionally they should be the same, England/Scotland and Europe, Africa etc.
