FAO Dev and Dancing - bluepooch - 27-08-2017

If any of you like a flutter you can get 8/1 with Hills for us to be relegated .
Must be like stealing money eh ?

RE: FAO Dev and Dancing - Dancingwilldoit - 28-08-2017

Why would I do that? I just want Caldwell gone and a half decent manager in before we implode. The last thing I want is for us to go down.
Have you heard his interview after the game Sat? We sit bottom of the league and he is still saying the same old crap about his way being difficult to play. Well change it dear Gary because if we lose at home to Coventry on Sat I for one will be leading the Caldwell out chants. The players have no confidence, why is that do you think? This is his team, if he cant get them to play the way he wants then what does that tell us?
No excuses. Caldwell got into this mess and its obvious to all but the blinkered few that he isn't capable of getting us out of it. Do you honestly think the return of Joe Rowley is going to save him??? If the rumours are right and Lee is out again then god help us.

RE: FAO Dev and Dancing - Devongone - 28-08-2017

This Caldwell mantra of his way of playing being difficult to learn ....... well if he is right WHY is he trying to teach it to old players who have spent entire careers playing in other ways? Old dogs and new tricks etc ......

Surely his most receptive learners will be Maguire, Willock, Smith, Fowler, Ofoegbu.

I would love 8/1 against anything I regard as a racing certainty EXCEPT OUR RELEGATION.

Pooch mate I have not said this to you before, because I like you and love your optimism, but it was supporters like you calling for Wilson's head (a loyal man who had saved us once already) who precipitated Danny's sacking & put the club and GC into a near impossible position. Learning about the club, its peculiar problems and assessing his squad and re-building it during a transfer window without any resources ....... would have been difficult even for an experienced manager, for one whose experience was totally irrelevant IT WAS A RIDICULOUS ASK! If we were going to go down under Danny we should have done it and not embittered a good man and ourselves .... and we could have let a new man start then. I even came up with the alternative of the Hump in charge of the team and Danny moving a little upstairs .......... It was you and your man who gave as most embarrassing and abject relegation in a quarter of a century. Dancing and I were never in favour of it.

The reason why I say NOW is the time to be rid of the man is not only has he had the equivalent of half a season and collected just 15 points BUT also that waiting as you have suggested until the end of September is once more the WORST TIMING POSSIBLE. Just look at the fixture list. Sack GC at the end of September and we'll spend all October sorting it out. We have no functional administration. There are FIVE games in October - all would be potentially winnable for even a moderate team. Ten to fifteen points gathered then could be the difference between being in the league and being in outer darkness, the club continuing to live and starting to die! You want to take potential victories and dump 'em in the Hipper! Great move!

It gives me no pleasure to say that I did tell you that not only would we lose at Newport but also that we'd be "THRASHED". Looking at the club from way outside can give you some advantages. From here it is obvious we are bottom because we are the most dysfunctional. We have a manager making regular and bizarre prognoses simply because we are the most dysfunctional. He reflects the club. We are him! To me the question is not how we can be saved but IF. We have the outward trappings of a football club, but lots of the internal workings are just missing.

At the moment we're looking more 1/8 than 8/1. I hate it. I can't tell you how much. But I do find it insulting to be told I should back us to be relegated Blue when you've been the cheerleader for the on-field mess we've created to match the off-field chaos DA is promoting.

RE: FAO Dev and Dancing - bluepooch - 28-08-2017

Just thought if you had a nice little windfall on the back of our relegation it would soften the blow for you ,I just cant win.
The fact that we are such a big price suggests the bookies think we are too good to go down ,but they got it wrong with Trump and Brexit so whos to say they are right this time .
I will repeat again the getting rid of GC is all well and good but if we dont bring anyone to improve us then its pointless and a waste of money.
We have proved by the last 3 appointments that we are not very good at replacing managers but lets take Sheff U again as an example ,manager after manager failed after Warnock until finally they get it right with Wilder, who has transformed the club in 15 months.
Once we have decided GC isnt up to it, and most have already decided, then before we get rid please let us go through due diligence and probably not let AC pick the next guy .We did it with Cook and Sheridan who both improved our standing ,so we can do it again .Didnt DA have a say in picking those guys ?
Come back Dave all is forgiven .Or sell up and give someone else a go .
So as long as its the right guy it doesn't matter whether its Sept Oct or Nov we could still turn it round.Things change quickly in football.

RE: FAO Dev and Dancing - Devongone - 28-08-2017

Our biggest priority is for DA to decide what he is doing. Unless and until the club knows what it is doing, who is in charge, who owns it and does it have a future, the decisions it makes are likely to be chaotic. Sacking Wilson was a chaotic decision, which may have come as a relief to him at such a club, looking for his replacement sounded chaotic and the final appointment was simply a prelude to the absolute chaos and misdirection that has reigned ever since. No Chesterfield manager since the war has had a record like this! Remotely .......

Unless and until DA allows or forces the club to sort itself out there would always be a danger that sacking the current manager might smack somewhat of frying pans and fires. I suppose there is the argument that as no one ever has a record this bad GC must be about to get some wins to kind of revert to the mean or something .......... But I'm not a believer in sacking managers and I'm crying out for it this time. In this case I think on balance it is almost bound to be an improvement even if we go for Nigel Farage. But if we go into October in total chaos, no manager, and the players even more lost than they are in a back three we'll be down way before Christmas ...... and down's out!

We have to be capable of winning games in October.

RE: FAO Dev and Dancing - Dancingwilldoit - 28-08-2017

At no point in any league game have we looked like we wanted it under GC. We were lucky against Vale and against better opposition could have been 2 or 3 down in the first 20 mins. There hasn.t been a single game we have looked comfortable and composed. Players object to tactics and they are gone from the club or the squad. Rumours re Steve Eyres are that GC just wouldn't listen so now he's gone as well. We have dug a hole by letting GC bring in his own backroom staff and now it will cost a fortune to get rid when we should be spending on players. We need somebody to get us back to basics, Colman or Redfern might be worth a shot. Failing that I will do it and I bet I get a better win ratio than 9%.

RE: FAO Dev and Dancing - bluepooch - 28-08-2017

Just seen the goals ,all were poor from our point of view.It looked like Tommy was looking after himself for the last 3 which is worrying as has been stated .
Interesting to see Nouble's comments post match ,he said he took great pleasure in scoring against us as we were interested in signing him pre season but "messed him about".
