Larrett Roebuck - Lord Snooty - 14-10-2014 It's official. Another first for Huddersfield Town. Larrett Roebuck was the first Football League player to have been killed in the 1st World War. He was killed in action on the 18th of October 1914. One hundred years ago to the day when we play Blackpool on Saturday. Should Town hold a one minute's silence in his honour? Town fan, David Tattersall is on Radio Leeds tonight speaking on this subject. I will try and post a link later. Meanwhile, here's the story on The Western Front association website. http://www.westernfrontassociation.com/great-war-people/brothers-arms/4112-larrett-roebuck-the-first-footballer-in-the-english-football-league-to-be-killed-in-the-great-war.html RE: Larrett Roebuck - ARTERRIER - 14-10-2014 Me and Larrett share the same surname but we aren't related, as far as I'm aware anyway. The First World War throws up some interesting footballing stories, non more so than a Walter Tull, although not a Town player his story makes interesting reading, google him.
