Road to Nowhere - Dancingwilldoit - 26-07-2017 Whilst we are all waxing lyrical in musical terms, Talking Heads seems apt or in our case not talking heads. Pick formation, pick players, get trounced, get relegated. Repeat. That's the Road to Nowhere. How about trying to look at players, play best formation and actually compete before going 3 goals down - again and again. Early days I know but my god is there a sense of history repeating itself. Quick footnote, Even more injuries? What the hell are we doing in training? Has Ashley Carson devised the fitness programme? RE: Road to Nowhere - bluepooch - 26-07-2017 I hope Caldwell is still experimenting but that first half team wasnt good enough ,we were outfought, out thought ,outskilled. Second half ,3 players made a massive difference ,Ugwu ,Mccourt and Reed. We have got a succesfull team in there I'm sure of it but Caldwell needs to find it quickly.Starting Saturday. The one player I have been massively disappointed in is Anyon and if he is starting on August 5th I would be worried ,he was badly at fault for two goals last night and I havent seen him make a decent save yet . RE: Road to Nowhere - Devongone - 26-07-2017 We haven't got a way of playing never mind a set formation have we? Being flexible is good, but you have to be good to be flexible. "Ellis Plummer, yes I can see the Man City connection. Has he been training with us, if so why isn't he injured? Is he any good now? He was a big thing as a boy, but he's 22 and hasn't done anything yet and is injury-prone." I wrote that having tried to read a report last night, out of our website and I got line-ups. Ours included Ellis Plummer. Rotherham's was rather different from what actually played too! What the fkkkkuk is going on? Ellis Plummer? RANDOM? Anyon is a second-rate, well not even second, keeper. He's just Dorel without the beret and the onions. We keep going back to Hird and Evatt in the centre of defence and it is never going to work. Even Chelsea had to stop exposing John Terry eventually: we're seeing that at a lower level is all. Anyone with a bit of pace will cause us problems. Our midfield clearly needs physical strength. He may be our biggest earner and our version of a marquee signing but perhaps we urgently need to try playing WITHOUT CO'G before we take on the might of Grimsby. He NEVER wins. As things are WE CAN'T STOP GOALS or SCORE THEM! I am afraid my solution is brutal and simple. We need to ditch the manager before the start of the season. He isn't managing he's guessing, players are going down injured in training like flies and he is losing friendlies for us as adeptly as he lost league games. If he stays, buy The Non-League Paper like me. You need to see the pyramid Mr Carson and his miniature boardette are slithering us down. The club needs sorting out root and branch. Supporters are even complaining they haven't been able to get through to the club on the phone. The problem didn't last a day. It's ongoing. Our website is unimaginably poor. It's full of anodyne interviews and reports that are out-of-date. It is an information-free zone. It should be an exciting place for fans to go, not another page of GC covers his arse! We don't know who is in charge or where we are supposed to be going. No wonder we conclude it's nowhere. The question is would Nowhere be better than where we're bound? RE: Road to Nowhere - bluepooch - 26-07-2017 At least we will have a decent crowd 6k plus ? for the first game due to the expected 2500 from Great Grimsby (where are they getting their enthusiasm from all of a sudden ? ).Dev I dont think Sir Jack won anything til he joined us so to say COG never wins as a reason to drop him is harsh. Caldwell will be in charge at the start of the season and hopefully all the way through as that mean we are successful. I personally think we will make the play offs judging on what Ive seen so far ,we have lost against teams we should lose against and beaten teams we should beat. Saturday, against a team who have just gone up from League 2 ,should be the most accurate test of our standing yet. RE: Road to Nowhere - Devongone - 27-07-2017 I'm not really trying to judge CO'G but in whatever combo he has appeared we've been pretty sterile in an attacking sense. We either have to use him to win games, or find someone else. It's not just that we're losing, we are losing quite easily. |
