Membership - Salopbaggie - 11-07-2017 So ticket prices have been held, I have just gone to renew my membership and found out, membership prices are going up from £5.00 a year to £20 a year. Now if you live close and can get to a reasonable amount of games that is probably no big thing, however, if you live some distance away and/or can only get to 3 or 4 games a season, it is like putting up the ticket prices by a fiver. I have been a member for many years, sometimes not being able to attend any games at all, due to health and living so far away. A fiver was neither here or there, so I still maintained my membership, £20:00 though is a fair amount if you end up not using it. What do I actually gain from paying my membership? Pretty much, only access to some "A" games, which are not offered to general public due to already being sold out. Can I justify a 300% price increase just for that? Hmm "to renew or not renew that is the question". RE: Membership - talkSAFT - 11-07-2017 I'm same as you, Salop. I gave up my season tkt when I moved to Cornwall 5 years ago. I still get to 4-5 home games a year, and don't mind paying a fiver. I've bought Membership ever since, but I'm not going to pay £20 for nothing. (I hoped it might get me some sort of priority for a Cup Final, but chances of that dream have died!) RE: Membership - Sir Megson - 11-07-2017 I'd imagine they've increased the price of the membership as I've been told by someone that they're going to be ditching the £40+ ticket for category A games and capping at £30, similar to the max away ticket charge. Seems a case of give with one hand and take away with the other. Personally I'd say wait till general sale as I can't imagine you'll really struggle to get a seat - and if you are looking at a specific game where we're playing Man U, Chelsea etc and are likely to sell out, get the membership at that point. Also I'm going to guess that a few Chelsea fans bought memberships with how many there was in the home end for their title winning game. Obviously being £15 more won't discourage another team from doing similar but I bet the club have done the maths and can see the likelihood of making a few extra bob doing the memberships that way. The list of stuff with the membership is: ALWAYS ALBION ADULT MEMBERSHIP Home Membership packages for the 2017/18 season are available to purchase. Always Albion Adult Membership £20 Always Albion Adult membership includes: £5 ticket voucher Membership Card Priority ticketing e-newsletter Exclusive Club events 5% Retail discount 10 % Hospitality discount Also if it won't get the forum into trouble - a ticket request thread might be useful. As a home and away season ticket holder for this year I'd happily get home tickets for any member who can give enough notice. Away tickets can be a different kettle of fish though with limits per person etc but where I can help I will ![]() ![]() RE: Membership - Salopbaggie - 12-07-2017 (11-07-2017, 20:17)Sir Megson Wrote: ALWAYS ALBION ADULT MEMBERSHIP Thanks for the offer Sir Megson, on the "Benefits" £5 ticket voucher (you are still £10 worse off though) Membership Card (a bit of plastic, not really any use for anything except remembering your membership No) Priority ticketing (just means you can by tickets a day or two before they go on sale to general public - Season ticket holders and the like rightly still get first dibs before you) e-newsletter (Advertising nothing more) Exclusive Club events (fund raisers at expensive prices for what they are) 5% Retail discount (in the club shop - get that anyway as I have a WBA credit card and £2.50 off a £50.00 shirt is not really here or there) 10 % Hospitality discount (this could be useful if you ever want to pay a few hundred quid for a hospitality package (ticket, dinner, meet the players)- it is not valid in the general hospitality in the ground) RE: Membership - Sir Megson - 12-07-2017 (12-07-2017, 18:51)Salopbaggie Wrote:(11-07-2017, 20:17)Sir Megson Wrote: ALWAYS ALBION ADULT MEMBERSHIP Can't disagree with that fella. As I said originally the club basically are giving with one hand and taking with another. It's just a pity with how football ticket prices in general have spiraled out of control - I think our original category A game price in the Prem was something like £19 - gone up a fair bit since then! The only bit of common sense recently has been the £30 cap on away fans tickets. Let's hope that's not a short lived scheme! RE: Membership - BridgwaterBaggie - 12-07-2017 I was also surprised & a tad disappointed when I went to renew earlier today. I normally buy the Half ST as I can do all the post Xmas home games but very few before, due to work commitments. So, do I spend the £20 to buy tickets for maybe 3 games in the first half of the season, or wait for general admission ? I'm leaning towards the latter. Totally depends on which games those 3 are - if it's against the newly promoted sides I can't see a struggle for tickets waiting till they hit general sale, so the top sides it's not a certainty. Have to say fair play making the journey from Bridgwater regularly on the half ST though. As mentioned previously if anyone is struggling for a ticket, plenty of notice and I'll be more than happy to help out.
