25 years of - 4evaabaggie - 07-06-2017 the premier league, Where do we stand in the premier league all time table? The answer ......... 47 teams have played under the banner of the premier league ..... Albion are a credible 19th one place above stoke having had two seasons more. The stats without digging to deep are not massively impressive, Second worse goal difference of -196 only Sunderland are worse. Only about 9 points better off than stoke having played two seasons more. 11 - 9 Should really do a points per game ratio to see how we stack up then. Wolves way down in 37th from their four seasons.. RE: 25 years of - 4evaabaggie - 07-06-2017 Placing on average points per game, 1, Man U 2.1008 2, Arsenal. 1.8939 3, Chelsea. . 1.8596 4, Liverpool 1.7432 5, Man C. 1.5168 6, Spurs. 1.5041 7, Leeds. 1.4786 8, Newcastle 1.4016 9, Blackburn. 1.3936 10, Everton. 1.3762 11, Villa. 1.3235 12, Forest. 1.2645 13, West Ham 1.2456 14, Sheffield W 1.2405 15, Stoke. 1.2397 16, Wimbledon 1.2373 17, Saints. 1.2255 18, Swansea. 1.2236 19, Leicester. 1.2037 20, Charlton. 1.1875 21, Fulham. 1.1862 22, Norwich. 1.1809 23, Bolton. 1.1639 24, Bournemouth. 1.1578 25, Coventry. 1.1553 26, Boro. 1.1515 27, Blues. 1.1315 28, Ipswich. 1.1089 29, QPR. 1.1079 30, Pompey. 1.1015 31, Wigan. 1.0888 32, Sheffield U 1.0819 33, Palace. 1.0769 34, Oldham. 1.0595 35, Reading. 1.0438 36, WBA. 1.0358 37, Derby. 1.0300 38, Blackpool 1.0263 39, Sunderland. 1.0164 40, Barnsley. 0.9210 41, Burnley. 0.9035 42, Watford. 0.9013 43, Hull. 0.9000 44, Wolves. 0.8947 45, Bradford. 0.8157 46, Cardiff. 0.7894 47, Swindon. . 0.7142 As I assumed ...... our points per game average is pretty poor. RE: 25 years of - talkSAFT - 08-06-2017 25 years ago (and even 17 years ago) I thought 'The Top Flight' was a thing of the past. Since then we've not done so bad, and we're solvent. Ultimately you have to thank Paul Thompson and Jeremy Peace for lifting the Club from the brink of the 3rd rung to stable Premier status. Who would have thought that when we got excited about staying in the Championship 17 years ago (last day win over promoted Charlton) we'd be moaning about finishing 10th!? RE: 25 years of - 4evaabaggie - 08-06-2017 Talksact, I'm not complaining, we have come a long way, we have a long to go. A little more adventure and a higher points per game average would be great but we are in the greed league and the money may help to build a future. RE: 25 years of - Onetruebaggie - 08-06-2017 In regard to the greed league, I see figures of £75m for Van Dijk, £90-100m for Lukaku and Bournemouth spending £10m on a keeper and think the whole thing has gone f****** crazy! I love the Albion, always have always will, but I feel so disenfranchised with the whole thing at the moment. I see the Premier League creaming over the rights deals around the world, SKY/BT, pumping money in like a broken hosepipe, everybody being better off to the tune of £150-200m per season and what are we going to get for it!!! More expensive and overpriced players, earning double their already 50-100k p/w salaries, agents getting fat on their share of the transfer fee and the poor b******* that do turn up, getting absolutely nothing more for their money!!! I truly hope somebody pulls the plug on the lot and football comes crashing and the whole thing gets a reality check I really do. In the meantime, I think I will support my local team Tamworth, they are Vanarama North, get 6-900 a week, I can change ends at half time and genuinely feel part of something and making a difference. Sorry to sound like a sad old git, i'm 41 and still just about remember when football had meaning and it wasn't the great big financial megalomaniac it has become!!! ![]() COYB and Tamuff too!!! RE: 25 years of - Beefy 1965 - 08-06-2017 Cant get my Head around this FFP Bournemouth pull in 14,000 a game Its costing them 130k a week for Defoe 100K a week for Terry they are splashing out left right and center We are down to 14 pro's according today's express & dingle after our clear out we should not be struggling Also I heard you were allowed to go so much over FFP it without being penalized for it, So i'm not sure we have to be that careful I mean Bournemouth FFS ![]() Also its interesting our owners company is sponsoring us this year has anyone heard how much its for ? RE: 25 years of - talkSAFT - 08-06-2017 Wish I could double-"Like" OneTrueBaggie's comments. That's just how I feel, although I'll still do a 500 mile roundtrip to watch the Albion 4 times a year. I'd rather the football was poor, like it was before the foreign invasion, than to think of the money floating round the Prem. There's only so much money in the World, so £Billions is making people poor somewhere along the way. What would make me happy is for someone with strong principles to say "See that £5mpa salary I'm getting? I'm gonna give £4.9m of it to good causes". That would make me worship them - not like that xxxx Terry. |
