Rolando linked with WBA - Salopbaggie - 10-10-2014

Lazy journalism at it again? The Mail is now using the "Internet Rumour Mill" as a basis for stories.  They are saying we are interest in Porto defender Ronaldo, not a bad player , but why we would be looking at another CB?

Unless Olsson's been unsettled by being dropped and he's looking to leave in January, I don't see why we'd go for another aging CB.
Maybe it's lazy journalism, maybe they know something we don't?

His name is Rolando. Whistle

He will be an absolute steal at £1 million. It was only a couple of years ago that he was touted for some of Europe's top clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City. He will be a major improvement over the out of form Olsson and with McAuley at the age he is, Rolando will be an astute bit of business for a great price as competition for Dawson and Lescott.

I already posted the link in the transfer window thread but whatever Whistle

Rolando - Lescott would be an absolutely amazing centre back partnership for a club of our size, has the potential to blow the old McAuley - Olsson one out of the water and is the type of partnership you would expect at a club consistently competing in the Europa League. We should definitely be looking at this one in January, GMac is 35 in December and Olsson is 31 and out of form, bringing in a Portuguese international with bags of Champions League experience at 3 of Europe's biggest clubs who has only just turned 29 (peak age for a centre back) is a no-brainer. At £1m as well would be a steal!!!

With the likes of Lescott, Ideye, Pocognoli and Varela coming in the summer it would continue JP's new policy of bringing in quality players from top clubs.

As for January: Andre Ayew, Yarmolenko, Milner and Giovinco are all out-of contract at the end of the season and may be options if we decide to push the boat out for a cut-price winger.

Also, Jonas who we were heavily linked with on a free has signed for Benfica and scored on his debut Blush

So if he's mentioned in the press we're not after him, we all know how the Albion work by now if we sign someone in January it will come from left field

RE: Ronaldo linked with WBA - DanTheSmethwickMan - 10-10-2014

With the likes of Galatasary and Inter interested I can't see this happening. And Dawson has just signed a new deal- do you think JP would have done that if another CB would be coming in?
