International Baggies Fans - DannytheBaggie - 09-10-2014

As it’s the international break I thought I would ask if there are any *International baggies fans on this board or if you know of any?

*When I say international, im referring to fans that have either moved abroad or fans that have always lived away from the UK and grew up supporting Albion? It would be great to here your stories.

I moved to Qatar in March last year and I thought id already met the only other Albion fan out here a few months a go, a guy I deal with at work. However I was in a sports bar in Doha last Saturday watching the Liverpool game and at the end of the game a lady in her 50’s came over with the broadest black country accent you could imagine asking me ‘where yaw from’? She recognised the WBA shirt I was wearing and explained that she was from Wednesbury and has been out here teaching for a while. Was a nice moment that reminded me of home.

I don’t run a blog of any sorts but if any of you are on twitter drop me a follow as there is usually some fun Albion related content on there: G87_DAN

Cheers,

Danny

Saw a Kenyan bloke on Twitter this week who's apparently just got his first Albion shirt after forty years supporting the club! Not sure whether he'd have preferred one with proper stripes, but to be fair, he posted a picture of himself and he looked happy enough!

Great stuff Thumb up - weird how you meet up with fans abroad.

Can't really add to that but I went to Wales once and nearly got my head kicked in (think his mates called him Class or something similar)

My mate is a Baggie in China. The turns out to be quite a few and they have formed a 'club'. Someone emails them match reports and they get distributed via email. But, China forbids organised gatherings over a certain number and so they can't meet up as a group to watch a game in a 'pub' or hotel - hilarious.

Oh, I've heard about those guys. Still remember what happened in '89 when they organised that big "Talbot out" demonstration in Tiananmen Square.

(Sorry; that's about as dark as my sense of humour gets...) Angel

I lived in the US for 2 years but retained my season ticket for the few games when I was back in the UK. I delayed my move there until the day after KP had scored against Wolves in the play off, flew back a few days later for the final and was also back for the semi-final robbery against Portsmouth.
Coming back from that play off final I had just taken my seat on the plane when the guy sitting next to me pulled out the match programme. I had the horrible thought that I could be stuck next to a Derby fan for 8 hours but thankfully he was another US based Baggie - he also knew of 3 others (all unknown to each other) who had been on the same flight over to Brum.

Then, of course, you have this typical street scene in Warsaw in the late 1980s...
