Match Thread - SWFC v Blackburn - St Charles Owl - 13-02-2017

THE MATCH - TUESDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 2017 at 7.45PM BST

A game on Valentine's Day, so one for the lovers among us!!! Lets hope we come out of this one smelling of roses!!

This game sees us hosting one of the few teams to have won the Premier League, but since those heady days of Shearer and Sutton, Blackburn have steadily dropped down the league and now find themselves in a relegation battle to stay in the Championship. All is not well at Ewood Park, and hasn't been for a while, especially since the Venky's took over ownership after Jack Walkers death. This is a team that are struggling, of that there is no doubt, but they do pull out the occasional good result, like winning at Newcastle, so we need to be wary of them, but we shouldn't fear them. This is a game we should, and in a way must win!!

This will be the 150th meeting between us, that has to be right up there as one of our records against one team!! We just hold the edge in wins over those games but over the last 10 home games we both have 3 wins, and there have been 4 draws. Last season saw us win 2-1 in a game which seems to have swung in our favor after an own goal and red card for them, with us coming back from 1-0 down to win, with Wallace getting the winner.

THE LAST MATCH

Again not as good a performance as I think we are capable of but an emphatic scoreline and good 3 points along with it!! We started well, got in front and then seemed to take our foot off the gas for some reason, until we were able to secure the win with 2 late goals. Most are saying we were worth the win, just not by 3 goals probably!!
