IT'S CALDWELL - Devongone - 17-01-2017 I predict a valley. RE: IT'S CALDWELL - Dancingwilldoit - 17-01-2017 I honestly cant control my excitement. But on this occasion I think I might just manage to. RE: IT'S CALDWELL - themaclad - 17-01-2017 Decent manager miserable git though RE: IT'S CALDWELL - Devongone - 17-01-2017 Dan Gardner scored on Saturday and said Ritchie Humphreys had put smiles back on faces, Tuesday we sign standard Scottish miserable git. Apparently we couldn't get Victor Meldrew. RE: IT'S CALDWELL - spireitematt - 17-01-2017 I saw the press conference on Facebook, it looked pretty awkward when Turner was speaking. I was pretty pleased with what they all had to say though and I think we can all be optimistic. RE: IT'S CALDWELL - Devongone - 17-01-2017 I hope you are right Matt. You deserve to be, and Dancing, Pooch and all the other loyal Spires BUT I don't think we are coming out of the bottom four. Lots of miserable gits have succeeded though. Cloughie punched Roy Keane in the face at half-time, that has always cheered me up. RE: IT'S CALDWELL - spireitematt - 17-01-2017 (17-01-2017, 18:47)Devongone Wrote: I hope you are right Matt. We're gonna win 19 games in a row and make the playoffs. WEMBLEY HERE WE COME! RE: IT'S CALDWELL - Devongone - 17-01-2017 I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour But heaven knows I'm miserable now I was looking for a job, and then I found a job And heaven knows I'm miserable now New Chesterfield anthem to be sung in honour of GC when we are 0-2 down on Saturday. RE: IT'S CALDWELL - bluepooch - 17-01-2017 I agree he has a dour demeanour but i dont care if hes the chuffin son of Dracula as long as he gets us playing exciting attacking football. I for one haven't been as optimistic as this since the arrival of Paul Cook. RE: IT'S CALDWELL - Devongone - 18-01-2017 Since his arrival? So you are more optimistic than you were at any time when Paul Cook was winning a championship or getting us into the Division play-offs, or when we scored seven in Danny's first game, or when we signed Ched Evans & you were imagining 30 goals for the season? Really? Sounds like whistling in the air-raid shelter to me. With our former Chairman setting up as a hermit, young Mr Caldwell looks committed to a very similar level of players to those Dean Saunders looked to be taking down and Danny Wilson just kept up. Maybe he's David Blaine and can start catching bullets in his mouth and regurgitating live goldfish. Players can be found for next to nowt - last season among some non-league players I listed was Dover's centre back. Lincoln took him and he looked pretty solid against Ipswich last night (apparently they also grabbed Keiffer Moore who would have been another cheap gamble for us). I'm sure Mr Caldwell knows a million times more than me about it, but under the threat of relegation the decision to gamble or not, to attack or not, to choose any path or not is bloody difficult. One criticism I'd make of Danny was that his body language was negative. Caldwell might be the funniest man on the circuit, but his reputation is that he makes Jack Dee look like Lee Evans. It's shallow of me I know, but if I am going into a relegation battle I don't want the man in charge to look as though he thinks I'd have more chance in the Nou Camp. But I just saw a more smiley version of him too, so perhaps like Victor Meldrew there's a Richard Wilson inside. |
