FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland - 0762 - 02-11-2016 So our confrontation at Wemberley looms ever closer and wee Goggsy has announced his Scotland squad to hopefully 'do a job' on England:- Goalies: Gordon, Hamilton, Marshall Defenders: Berra, Greer, Hanley, Kingsley, R Martin, Paterson, Wallace Midfielders: Anya, Bannan, Broony, Burke, D Fletcher, McArthur, McGinn, Morrison, Ritchie, Snodgrass Forwards: S Fletcher, Forrest, Griffiths, C Martin, Naismith What team to field from that lot? I'd personally go for this line up:- Marshall Kingsley Berra Greer Wallace Broony Anya Morrison McArthur Snodgrass Griffiths or Naismith The centre back positions have been dodgy from day one and even changing to Berra and Greer is still fraught with concern TBH. Our chances in this match? I personally don't think we have a team to perform as well as the Tartan Army will do it when the Scotland fans take over a big part of Wembley Stadium. I just hope these players can somehow 'raise their game' and their concentration and try to win a British style of cup tie v a none too impressive England team. RE: FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland - 0762 - 08-11-2016 The 'talking' begins today! Southgate mentioning the history and importance of the fixture and the control of temperament by his players. Mark McGee countering that the Scottish players will be passionate and well up for this match. Also delighted that Broony's injury was just a minor scare. I still think we need more than Broony. We've also lost 3 x decent full backs due to injury. So both our full back positions have 'limited experience' attached to them. Add that to the iffy nature of the CBs in our defence and it could be a long night. I just hope we play and, even if we lose, we've gone down with some kinda fight and accountability about this team! RE: FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland - Lord Snooty - 08-11-2016 Strachan's thinking of getting Andy Murray to do the pre match motivational speech. Now Andy's a lot of good things, but a motivational speaker? Don't think so. ![]() RE: FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland - hibeejim21 - 08-11-2016 Wallace is xxxx rubbish and we will get tore apart down that side if he plays. Id be tempted to play young kingsley of swansea in there instead as our choices are so poor. Otherwise i'd say 0762s side is likely to be close to the one chosen. Strachan needs a big, improved performance on friday or he will be under real pressure. RE: FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland - hibeejim21 - 08-11-2016 charlie mulgrew called up as greer becomes a fitness doubt. Did you see his lovely square pass to a Ross County player just outside the Rangers box? ![]() RE: FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland - themaclad - 08-11-2016 If Ingland win will the Sturgeon woman ask for the result to be overturned?!!! RE: FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland - hibeejim21 - 09-11-2016 The way things are going she might end up getting a game. RE: FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland - 0762 - 09-11-2016 There are two small 'rays of hope'. One of them is Snoddy's decent return to the Hull team (he looked hungry and dangerous but may lack match fitness) and the other is Morrison's decent form at WBA. Ollie Burke's recent good form in Germany is another wee bit of positivity leading up to this match. RE: FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland - hibeejim21 - 09-11-2016 We might as well go for it because we don't have any defence to speak of. |
