v Sheff Wed - bluepooch - 17-07-2016

Well I went today and wasn't too impressed tbh .
I'll make allowances for the opposition but If the team of the first half plays all season then we are in for a struggle as it was basically the same team that struggled last season.
However there was some promise second half from the younger /newer players.
Some observations.
I though Dennis had an ok game and was left with the impression that when he gets up to speed with this division he will be ok.He did miss a sitter second half but has the hallmarks of a poacher.
Rai Simons has had plenty of snap in the close season, he looks to have grown about 6 inches and looks a stone heavier, his first touch let him down but has pace and strength and could be a handful.
The surprise of the day for me was the performance of Liam Graham who I thought was a fantasy player until today ,he looked assured .
Gboly is great to watch and I'll reiterate my feelings he will be our next million pound player as long as we don't sell him on the cheap.
On to Matlock where hopefully we will see an appearance from Ched and Nolan.

What is Curtis Morrison like ....... it was amazing decision to throw him in to start against Wednesday?

I like the sound of Rai Simons. I hoped he would show more last season. Hope he can this.

I suspect Danny is providing the rope for SEB to hang himself.

You have to remember the team in the second half had an easy job, playing a weakened opposition and they knew they couldn't do worse than the first half lot ......... but Gboly worries me. He goes on and rips Wednesday up. Someone is bound to notice. Last season we lost Darikwa just before the kick off to the season to a team we played in a friendly. Much as I covet £1 million plus for the club I fear sort of £350,000 to Rotherham and the player burying himself in a nowhere move.

I wasn't really expecting to see Ched in a friendly except perhaps a Matlock as he hasn't played for four years ......... If he ever reaches his best again that will be an achievement, but purely in playing, rather than moral, terms he is worth the gamble.

Was there many there Pooch? I heard a rumour that there were about 900 home fans but rest were Wednesday.

RE: v Sheff Wed - bluepooch - 17-07-2016

Difficult to say from where i was sat but id hazard a guess at 3900
2400 from them 1500 home fans.

RE: v Sheff Wed - spireitematt - 18-07-2016

Even 1500 home fans isn't good. Be interesting to see what the attendance is 1st home game of the season.

RE: v Sheff Wed - bluepooch - 18-07-2016

Id say about 5.5k home fans.Depends how we do at Oxford

RE: v Sheff Wed - spireitematt - 18-07-2016

Bit optimistic Pooch at 5,500. I'm saying about 4,000-4,500. That's because people will still be on holiday and a few season ticket holders haven't renewed this season.

Club are in the Daily Mail again. There's like an article every week about us now.

That mail piece is typical gutter press reporting trying to make a story out of nothing.
I guess we have to get used to this for a while.
