team next season - jjamez - 28-06-2016

So with a lot of signings already through the door with one out and one more in reportedly set to happen. What would your team for the first game of the season be? What tictacs you going to be applying.

Also what do you think we still require? Can name players if you want, dont have to be names that have been mentioned before as having town interested in them.

I'll leave it over to you, I'll put my team up later on. Thumb up Big Grin

RE: team next season - Lord Snooty - 28-06-2016

I've no idea, mate. It's the same every season. Loadsa players in and we have to hope they gel in time for the first game.

RE: team next season - jjamez - 28-06-2016

my team would be

coleman- although i fully expect another keeper to come in most likely ward from liverpool
scannell- outlandish, but wagner has previous of taking an attacking player and moving him to the back, would offer another attacking full back on the right to go with lowe on the left.
hefele and schindler at centre half, two fairly tall players, one smaller than the other and i'd hope he has a bit about him on the ball
lowe at left back, he's been mentioned as being attacking so i'd be inclined to think that the full backs will be the main crossing threat
billing and paurevic in the central mid roles, two more big players which gives our central play height and we should be hard to bully in that area in fact we may bully a few teams around for once whilst also having some class on the ball in there
lolley out on the right, mainly so he can cut in onto his left foot, but i would like to see another wide man come in, preferably one who can use both feet and really cause problems for the oppositions defence.
atm elias in the number 9 role, although he has come to challenge wells, so we might see something else there, but tbf it doesnt entirely stop him scoring goals and using his pace.
rvlp on the left similar reasons to lolley although, not sure but i think rvlp is able to use his left foot, but largely the attacking full backs would overlap into the space that the wide men vacate and really we have 4/5 players attacking the cross.
wells up top but i would also expect another striker to come in, not a 6ft 5 plus giant, but i think we could do with 6ft 2 player who could put himself around a bit and possibly rough up a defenders without requiring hoofball to be utilised

RE: team next season - WakeyTerrier - 28-06-2016

A quick word about Coleman, I was talking to a couple of Oldham lads in France and they were saying he's a good keeper but his distribution is awful

RE: team next season - jjamez - 28-06-2016

Something that can be worked on. What other keepers are available? Steve harper was released...some may remember his brief spell here

RE: team next season - MNTerrier - 29-06-2016

assuming the Schindler signing will happen , i think this is our best 11 right now on paper as we havent actually seen any of these new signings play

subs would be
Murphy/Coddington
Billing/Hogg
Kachunga
Bunn
Hudson/Cranie
Davidson
Dempsey
