Give youth a chance - meandbrenarebaggies - 06-06-2016 Hi to all. Have been checking out this site from time to time and sorry to see there has been a little grumbling between posters. The football situation for me is that I feel last season is best forgotten. We seem to have lost enthusiasm as the average age of the team has risen. I see the effect of Rashford on the England set-up; a palpable lifting of expectation and interest due to his youth and talent. Where are the young Baggies? At our best we were always a team playing open, expansive football regardless of the possibility of losing but last season the pressure of the financial implications of losing league status trumped everything. You cannot blame Pulis for doing what he was hired to do (although I stick to my previous stance that coaches/managers are largely irrelevant and that the actual team on the pitch is what matters). The past is history. The question for me is how to regenerate enthusiasm from the supporters; the staff; and the team for the coming season and I would look to youth to step forward; be given a chance; even at the risk of losing our teetering position in the league. RE: Give youth a chance - 4evaabaggie - 06-06-2016 Start the season with, passing, fluent attacking football, with pace and width, win the first 37 matches and I guarantee the enthusiasm will be back ....... and to ensure the backing of fans add an FA cup win .... 48 years of hurt is just tooooooo long. |
