Dylan finally returns to the fold - about time too!! - 0762 - 01-05-2016 http://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/news/6456 It was great to see Dylan McGeouch finally make his long-awaited return from injury v QOS this afternoon, albeit a late 15min slot in which he did OK. More importantly, he came through this brief exercise unscathed. His comeback has been timed conveniently with the start of the crucial play-off period and IMO we need this man's effective mid contribution, particularly when some of our younger mid players are looking leggy in the latter stages of games. His controlled midfield performances have been greatly missed!! Fraser Fyvie's return, coupled with Dylan's, effectively provides us with two fresh players who will definitely make a difference in the weeks ahead. Bartley also raring to go! It looks like Stubbsy is ensuring we have a fully accountable squad of first team players ready and available for the challenges ahead, the only casualty being El Alagui. He has also found a goalie who 'keeps clean sheets' and he can now nurture an assured solid defence in front of Conrad Logan and push on with another unbeaten run of matches!!! ![]() GGTTH RE: Dylan finally returns to the fold - about time too!! - hibeejim21 - 01-05-2016 No doubt we have missed him because i think that stubbs style with the midfield diamond is built around him playing, and i thought he looked good when he came on. Think wednesday might be too early for a starting slot though. RE: Dylan finally returns to the fold - about time too!! - 1Wattie - 01-05-2016 0762, It would be nice,as you say, to push on with another unbeaten run but that brings another problem to light. Would you go for the one that sees us winning the Scottish cup OR the one that will gain us Premiership status again? I`m a greedy B........ I hope for both but will gladly take the cup if only one is the choice. RE: Dylan finally returns to the fold - about time too!! - 0762 - 02-05-2016 Like you, I'd go for everything and try and 'ride on the crest of a wave of positive momentum' - keep winning and let our opponents fear us! ![]() RE: Dylan finally returns to the fold - about time too!! - supercooper - 02-05-2016 (01-05-2016, 21:46)1Wattie Wrote: 0762, Wow ! Very shortsighted surely promotion is the end game? Think wednesday might be too early for a starting slot though. The 'trick' for Stubbsy is effective player rotation - resting players as much as he can and utilising other squad players who can 'do a job' on Raith Rovers'. For example, I think John McGinn needs a rest but he's such a key player for Hibs. He's clearly resting Gray and Darren Mac and it will be curious to see Stubbs' formation v an improved Raith team but one that we can definitely beat home and away. I'd luv to see a Hibs 'tanking' of the rovers on Wed night, in order to render the second match to be no more than a 'bounce match' - prob won't happen but it would be welcome in order to rest more of our players. GGTTH RE: Dylan finally returns to the fold - about time too!! - hibeejim21 - 02-05-2016 Raith have improved so much recently, they deserve a huge amount of credit. I think they will be difficult opponents. Winning the home games is going to be massive. I expect stubbs to use the 3-5-2 midweek bringing back bartley, cummings and mcgregor. I'd let mcginn skip this one but like you say its unlikely. RE: Dylan finally returns to the fold - about time too!! - 0762 - 02-05-2016 Aye! Bring back Cummings and 'he can bury his demons' at the ground where his 'colossal goal miss' could well have gone a long way to ensuring second place and we would not have been playing this play-off QF tie at all!! RE: Dylan finally returns to the fold - about time too!! - hibeejim21 - 02-05-2016 I think the collapse v falkirk in those last 3 mins has really cost us. Even despite our dreadful form seeing that game out would have got us 2nd. Keatings didn't really build on his good performance previously,so i can see the manager reverting back to cummings. RE: Dylan finally returns to the fold - about time too!! - 0762 - 02-05-2016 That open goal miss by Keatings v QOS was just astounding and one of many in the last two matches!! He was the man in form and there's a time for a striker to just 'roof the baw' past a despairing goalie and stop messing about!! We had a bucketful of goal opps (we missed at least four 'open goals'!!!!!) to bury the GD between Falkirk and ourselves and we failed to capitulate on all these scoring chances!! Misfiring strikers have been our biggest failing. |
