Stubbsy - we'll bounce back! - 0762 - 14-03-2016

Headlined in today's EEN, the manager comments that Hibs will bounce back. When Stubbsy? IMO he's been making the wrong choices with certain players and he's been doing it for weeks. Also he does not do substitutions and that has rankled with lotsa Hibs fans for quite a while! Thumb down My son mentioned that he had a recent confrontation with a female Hibs fan at a Q&A session with the St Pat's branch HSC members. She asked him why he kept consistently fielding misfiring strikers who don't perform while other strikers are scoring goals. He dismissed the woman out of hand instead of answering the question! So much for a Q&A session. The only response I want, following that cup final cock-up v more poor opposition, is 11 Hibs players 'busting a gut' to get stuck into ICT on Wednesday night! I'd personally be 'kicking through walls' to get on the ICT pitch asap if I was a Hibs player and I call it 'playing for the shirt'. However, it aint gonna happen with some of the current players! Thumb down He needs to change his line uppronto or see another game slip away to another highland side that currently does not win games very often!

The manager definitely got some things wrong on sunday,we have become too predictable. The only width comes from the wing backs and they are both caught on the counter regularly, ross county played it spot on by packing the middle and we couldn't get the ball through to the strikers.

By the end we were pinging long balls up the park (why not bring on farid if we are playing that kind of game?)

This time last year we also had a run of bad games and now the manager has to turn it around and make sure we get 2nd. I think he is a decent enough manager with a good philosophy on the game, but he has to start learning from his mistakes if we are going to go up.

I'd like to have a 3 hour footie session with Lewis Stevenson and teach him how to cross a baw properly - old topic, same irritating problem! Hibs surely have somebody on their coaching staff who can help him to improve on this part of his game! Also Fontaine should never play in our central defence again - a lesson learnt for Stubbs, a total 'bottler'!

RE: Stubbsy - we'll bounce back! - 1Wattie - 14-03-2016

Over the last 6 games we have had more than 35 shots on target but have only scored 4 or 5 times. That points to a vast underachievement by our strikers and.as most of us have said, should merit different choices by Stubbs.
4 short weeks ago Hibs were in with a realistic chance of winning a treble of League, League Cup and Scottish Cup but the loss of 4 out of 5 games has left us needing to beat Inverness on Wednesday or the season can be written off sadly.
Of course we might get really lucky and beat Inverness and then Dundee Utd and then one of the Bigot brothers to get the Holy Grail. One lives in hope.

Yep 1Wattie. Stokesy wants to play a huge part of any match at walking pace and Cummings, who has never been synched to Stokes movements, has not done anything for weeks n weeks! We also discovered v ICT that Keatings has a better understanding when playing alongside or behind Stokesy. Also Thomo has flogged two crucial goals to ICT and The Staggies and any inquisitive observer can see that his legs have gone - he should normally be nothing more than a sub midfielder! He was a good midfielder about 6-8 years ago but time has moved on! That's football!

Hope has a habit of disappointing. 0 Wins from five games, and a long trip up north after another cup final defeat, points to more agony for Hibs. Long may it continue.

I totally agree with you 0762 and Stubbs must be able to see what we do. If we lose on Wednesday there will be no point in making changes in the hope of catching Falkirk. Hibs have a history of snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory and this was shown again yesterday but we can`t go on doing this because our fans are drifting away in greater numbers after every set back. It`s hard to believe that our average home gate was over 14,000 the last time we won silverware and now barely averages 9,000 or so and this will drop even further after another defeat. The 30,000 fans we took to Hampden yesterday deserve better.

RE: Stubbsy - we'll bounce back! - 0762 - 14-03-2016

Good comments 1Wattie! Indeed I know some Hibs fans who'd clubbed together with a £40 pot of money and punted it on Ross Co at 3-1 odds, the comment being, Hibs have done this before, thousands of Cabbage fans travelling and it'll be a 'kick in the teeth again' v shit opposition! They were right and covered that usual disappointment with a good return on a decent bet! The cynics are still out there and there are lotsa them expecting another 'false dawn' because Hibs consistently do this! That's one of the main reasons why our attendances are well down compared with better times in years gone by. The biggest sickener for me is the fact it's at a time when Scottish footie is generally shit/'rock bottom'! We currently have a Scottish Cup held in Inverness and a League Cup in Ross Shire - well done but it says it all for me and it aint no football renaisance.

RE: Stubbsy - we'll bounce back! - TIN TIN - 15-03-2016

Scottish fitba generally shit! - what a lot of tosh. What you really mean is its shit for Hibs. Aberdeen vying with Celtic for the premiership title, a rejuvenated Rangers skooshing the championship, a young talented Falkirk team pushing Hibs all the way for runner up spot in the championship, both cups currently held in the highlands- that's what we want as fans, different teams winning trophies, not just the same old we were accustomed to when Rangers and Celtic usually won the lot between them. Since the demise of Rangers, many clubs have actually seen attendances increase, so no Armageddon as predicted. Scottish football is only shit in your eyes because Hibs appear to be shit. Get over it.

RE: Stubbsy - we'll bounce back! - 0762 - 15-03-2016

It's shit for everyone and the historical Scottish football stats, including the Euro ones, bear that out as the standard continues to deteriorate. For example, the level of defending in Scottish football is downright awful and I watch it in tv highlights almost every week! Do you watch the same matches??? You must do!! Some of the top footie matches look like schools matches where players bunch together in tight defensive formations - it's quite amusing watching this poor standard of footie and it's supposedly a professional game. Two weeks ago Ross County had a home attendance of 2800 fans!!!! As said previously, well done to the highland teams in winning trophies but that aint no football renaissance!! They offer a limited contribution to Scottish footie!! By all means support the game up here as much as you can but don't start preaching how wonderfully good 'the beautiful game' is up here. It aint and most knowledgeable Scottish fans, and a lotta young kids for that matter, are well aware of that fact whether you like it or not!! That's why many of them go elsewhere to watch their football and generally have a fleeting interest in the game up here because it's become stale and has been for years! A few different clubs have won Scottish trophies! Big deal - there's more than that to add to the story re the poor state of Scottish football and why it is that way! Re your last line, it's also curious how such a shit team like Hibs could give your team, Hearts, a two goal lead and come back to draw and then turn them over in a replay at ER Stadium - 'two bites of the cherry' and your team came out with zilch! The issue is not just a Hibs issue, it never was!!
