FC BARCELONA OF HUDDERSFIELD VS THE BIG CLUB FROM LANCASHIRE THATS NOT BLACKBURN

Date: March 12th
Venue: John Smith Stadium, Huddersfield
Kick Off: 3.00pm

On Saturday Huddersfield will welcome current league leaders Burnley FC to the John Smith stadium for what promises to be another stern test of David Wagners Terriers
the Clarets currently sit 4 points ahead at the top of the table , but have played a game extra than second place Middlesbrough. a win could see them stretch their lead while a loss could see Boro move to within 1 point and brighton move to within 3 points.
A win for Huddersfield could see them move up to 14th place, a loss could see them slip to within 4 points of the relegation zone, its tight at both ends of the table this season

Huddersfield come into the game on the back of a confidence boosting 3-1 win over season rivals Reading. it was in important 3 points for the terriers as they have a tough run of games through march and any points picked up at this time will be welcomed, Huddersfield will also be hoping to bolster their squad options with several players due to return, Phillip Billing will be available for selection after finishing his 3 game suspension, and there are hopes that Emyr Huws, Joel Lynch, joe Murphy and Karim Matour will all be available at the weekend. one player that will be hoping for selection is Sean Scannell, the pacey wing man made an impressive return from injury tuesday night with an assist for towns second goal.

towns squad choices could also be enhanced by a couple of new arrivals before the weekend with both strong rumors that Van La Parra from wolves and Dodoo from leicester could be joining on loan imminently

Burnley came from behind twice against fulham tuesday night to win 3-2, with Andre Gray scoring the decisive goal, the 9 million pound front man has now notched 20 goals so far this season and is the divisions leading goal scorer. Burnley are also the divisions leading goal scorers with 57 goals, have the joint highest goal difference of 28, have lost the joint least number of games at 5 and are unbeaten in the league since boxing day. tough does not begin to describe this game to get anything from this the Terriers are going to have to be at their very best

a side show to the game will be the return of Scott Arfield, a play some thing did not get a fair shake at town, and could quite possibly be one of the few players who grew in popularity after they left the club

Burnley's ticket allocation means that they will be taking the whole south stand, so the singing section will be moving and there will be no transfers allowed on the day

Team
If lynch is fit he should start, although Crane has done little wrong i just think lynch is better, its temoting to put Billing straight back in but Dempsey has been doing well, the temptation is also to start scannell, but having played less than one half of football after 8 weeks out i think its wise to ease him back in, keep him as in impact sub

If Lynch is fit I'd be tempted to leave him out, if he plays and gets booked then he'll serve a 2 match suspension for reaching 10 bookings and then miss the Leeds game. Stick with me on this, Burnley(h) Leeds(a) Wendies(h) Boro(a) are our next 4 matches and we should definitely be targeting Leeds as the easiest game from that lot to win so we need our best team available

Leave Lynch out until he's 100%, or at least 95%. He's our top bod and shouldn't be risked making his hammy worse than it is.

Nice thread, btw, MNT. Thumb up

I'd be happy with a draw but if Rotherham keep winning we really do need to pick up 6 out of 12 from these next 4 games if we can. Maybe more I really don't know. Such a tough run of games. I think at home we can really take it to Burnley if we get at them from the off. Fulham did that and they scored two in quick succession before capitulating in spectacular fashion.

Burnalee haven't dropped a point YET in any of their games against the current bottom 9 clubs. They only have us and Charlton left to play away on 7th May of those clubs. They haven't beaten any of the other teams they have to play again YET either, but with 5 of those games being at home and only 3 away you wouldn't bet against them doing it as they only lost to 2 of them.

Confused yet?

Out muscled by a well drilled team who knew man to man what to do. Aided by weak defending from our part, then wasteful when 2nd half chances went high and wide, an easy day in the office for our 6 fingered friends.

We marshalled Gray well but didnt pick up the 2nd ball for their defender to hook it high into the goal, failed to stop the clipped pass for the 2nd assisted by the woodwork then Huddy & Crainey capitulated had 2-3 chances to clear our lines, conceded a well delivered corner moments after Dolly has shot superbly into the corner to get us right back in the game.

I cant remember either keeper making a save , Huws way off the pace, why Pato was left on the bench, Rolf the Aussie before Husband but in all rotations Wells is left up front and again 2 centre halfs strolling around not under stress.

Not a good vibe before next weeks derby we lacked spine, Barton mopped up, niggled and did his work to effect.

We need Bet Lynch the ill Billing back, Scanz another week on the training ground and hope we show some balls, get the ball forward quicker and take what chances come our way otherwise another difficult away day and points are needed with todays results again.

Hmmph!  Angry

RE: Huddersfield vs Burnley - JimboHTFC - 13-03-2016

We seriously struggled against their physicality and workmanlike performance. They knew how to defend and our crosses or shots were nearly always blocked. We couldn't break them down and barring a few half chances, we didn't create any real clear openings.

Burnley didn't have to do much to beat us and they were cruising most of the 2nd half. They will go up, but I cant see them staying there because I don't really think they have true quality in their ranks. Yes, they have very good Championship level players, but not Premier League quality. I didn't think Gray was anything special and I thought Nahki looked better to be honest!

I thought Wagner's team selection, for once, was wrong. I understand that Billing was ill, but why not just stick with Dempsey? He hasn't been fantastic, but he is committed and will put in a tackle. Clearly Huws and Scannell were not fit to start, so he should have gone with Paterson and Bunn again. Paterson should start week in week out!

I think our results against the top teams show that we are a long way off that level and without good investment this summer, then we can pretty much be certain to be in the same position every season in the Championship.

Hope no one on here says we should start looking over our shoulders. The moment that happens is the moment teams start to stumble and nerves creep in. Should keep looking up and aiming as high as possible, i imagine you know the saying about aiming for the moon and the stars yes?

Tbf we are three points off 15th so it is very very tight down at the bottom
