Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - RainbowTurnedEastStand - 10-12-2015 1. Arrogant in your place know it all. 2. Hates any defender under 6ft. 3. Refuses to play attacking full backs unless he`s got no other choice. 4. Waste`s money like its going of fashion. 5. Refuses to play attacking wingers unless they track back. 6. Rarely plays for a win away from home. 7. Isnt brave enough with team selections which is why he`ll never get a team in the top 10. 8. Hates natural goal scorers and tends to prefer big tall cart horses who work aard. 9. Very rarely can he take an average player and turn him into something even better. 10. Pulis will always keep teams in the Premier League but for just how long will fans put up with the negative style? crowds are already starting to dwindle which is worrying. Agree? RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - silverbaggie - 10-12-2015 OH NO NOT AGAIN ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Please don't start Baggieman off again! Yes TP has imperfections some of which seem to be shared with Van Gaal but, so what. It's important that we stay in the 'Greed League' and I can't think of anyone else out there who is likely to guarantee avoiding relegation. Gary Monk is available - he's managed at least one win in the last 11 games. ![]() Tim Sherwood is available - enough said. ![]() Appy Arry is available- please not in my lifetime! ![]() ![]() ![]() Do you want us to become another Yeovil, Blackpool or Portsmouth? Dropping like a proverbial stone. RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - drewks - 10-12-2015 My opinion? It's very easy to have a go at him in most of the areas above, but that's ignoring the simple fact that, before TP took over, we were going down. So "to hate " Tony Pulis is a bit rich. He can be criticised, sure - as can every manager/head coach, but to knock or ignore his effectiveness at clubs of our size is absurd. That's how I see it. RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - Dingle Bells - Dingle Bells - 10-12-2015 Ive had enough of sitting back and listening to people have a go at TP so ill give my opinion on the "points" you have "made" 1. Arrogant in your place know it all - No really sure where you got this idea from? 2. Hates any defender under 6ft - Proof please? To my knowledge, we only have 2 defender under 6ft and all of the defenders this seasons deserve there place yes even Olsson 3. Refuses to play attacking full backs unless he`s got no other choice - Proof please? Do you really think Poco and gamboa are better than Dawson and Brunt? 4. Waste`s money like its going of fashion - Hes brought a few players who he hasnt played really. Chester - but who are you going to drop for Chester to play? and Macca?? Sess and Mcclean are better players ATM 5. Refuses to play attacking wingers unless they track back - Quite right too, Players need to put in effort, Look at Mcclean, we all hated him but hes become a firm favorite because of the amount of effort he puts in. 6. Rarely plays for a win away from home - Kinda agree with this point 7. Isnt brave enough with team selections which is why he`ll never get a team in the top 10 - Brave enough? What players is he not picking? Poco - whos a red card and pently waiting to happen? Macca - Who wouldnt put in the effor Mcclean does Saddo - Umm the less said the better 8. Hates natural goal scorers and tends to prefer big tall cart horses who work aard - We only have one natural goal scorer who is quite rightly not playing because of his form 9. Very rarely can he take an average player and turn him into something even better - Dawson at RB and Brunt at LB kinda prove he can mold players to improve even when they are out of position 10. Pulis will always keep teams in the Premier League but for just how long will fans put up with the negative style - This is the classic would you rather see football being played the right way in the championship argument, just personal opinion. anyway thats my 2 cents RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - 4evaabaggie - 10-12-2015 Dingell bells ....... pretty much agree ....... nobody is perfect ...... I would love Albion to play like Barcelona / Real Madrid and to be champions of europe, proper champions not Liverpool Esq finishing fourth but winning the chumpions league. We could have had Dim Sherwood at our nice little ole club and others, we could spend fortunes on players like Leeds, Portsmouth and Bolton to guarantee us winning the premier league .... oh wait where are they now. I would love to see our stars in stripes gracing the three lions, lifting international trophies but football is not set up that way ...... it is what it is and not gonna change anytime soon. It may not be the best but it is our second best start to a prem season, we can improve but not overnight, stop the whinging and start the singing, cheer on the boys and laugh at Villa. Give TP some time and support. ALBION TIL I DIE RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - talkSAFT - 10-12-2015 Good wind-up, Rainbow, but bad timing. ![]() I do agree with some of your points, but if you'd posted 3 games ago, you would have had the odd 'Like'. I actually feel a lot better after the Spurs match (only 1 point, I know), because the missing ingredient of will-to-win was there (rather than will-to-draw). If we show the same attitude for 1/2 the remaining games I'll change my mind and say he's doing a good job. 3 games ago I was livid, but I think he's taken on board the advice that I sent him. ![]() RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - RainbowTurnedEastStand - 10-12-2015 (10-12-2015, 15:01)Dingle Bells - Dingle Bells Wrote: Ive had enough of sitting back and listening to people have a go at TP so ill give my opinion on the "points" you have "made" RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - Tibby Baggie - 10-12-2015 All of this talk of Pulis hatred has finally converted me. PULIS OUT! P.S If anyone needs me I'll be out in the garden burning an effigy of everyone's favourite football Antichrist. BaggieMan you're more than welcome to join, but bring your own petrol and matches. ![]() (10-12-2015, 18:16)RainbowTurnedEastStand Wrote:(10-12-2015, 15:01)Dingle Bells - Dingle Bells Wrote: Ive had enough of sitting back and listening to people have a go at TP so ill give my opinion on the "points" you have "made" 1. I couldn't give a toss about how someway takes a press conference. 2. So you'd prefer we played with short defenders? What strengths do short defenders have in comparison to tall ones? 3. Gamboa had a good world cup and hasn't ever had a good game for us IMO. Pocognoli doesn't stop crosses coming in and as a defender that's indefensible. They aren't playing as they aren't as good as some think they are. 4. £6 million is pocket change for a young English defender. Those who followed him at Hull all rate him and he'll get his chance. I wouldn't drop either Olsson or McAuley at the moment but no doubt fitness/suspensions will open up a chance for Chester. 5. I also don't think McClean is a gifted player, but for his work-rate and attitude despite abuse from both sets of fans, I take my hat off to the bloke. 6. You can't definitively say we'd have beaten Spurs. Don't get me wrong I was the first to grumble when Gardner came on for Sess, but a point and that performance against an unbeaten side was great and we'd have all taken a point if offered it before kick off. 7. Peace kept Berahino because Spurs took the piss with their offer. They had all summer to sign the lad and left it till last minute to try and get him for cheap. 8. Pulis favouring tall target men is a fair point. 9. You'll find we're not the only club that tries to provide our defenders with cover. Yacob screens the centre backs but nobody complains about it, when tactically its the same thing. Midfield providing cover for defence. 10. While it's possibly that we may still go down, I'm fairly confident that it won't be this season. We're playing a damn sight better than Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland. Can only really judge relegation once the Christmas games have been played IMO. RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - BaggieMan - 10-12-2015 MrBaggieman isn't well so can't be at your bonfire Mr Tibby much as I'm sure he would like to be. Happy Christmas everyone......Mrs Baggieman RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - drewks - 11-12-2015 ...oh, and I just don't see that TP is arrogant in any way at all. Seriously. He has strong views - nothing wrong with that - and IMO he puts them forward in a completely acceptable manner ![]() |
