huddersfield v brizzle match thread - jjamez - 09-12-2015

Now my apologies first off, the cold chill has found its way into my system and as such i am writing this from my bed on my phone. Whoopy

Saturday sees town welcome bristol city to the mcgalphsmiths stadium for what feels to be the first time in a long while. Bristol have had a topsy turvy start to the season which has seen some good performances like their televised victory over nottingham forest. But equally they have had some poor results and find themselves in similar position to town.

They are currently managed by Steve cottrill who has always been a decent run of the mill lower league manager but has found himself as a bit of a rescue job manager in the championship having saved forest a few seasons ago.

This summer saw them make a few decent acquisitions in the form of pacey striker Jonathan kodja, strong defender liam moore joined on loan from Leicester whilst on the other hand they decided to let jay emmanuel thomas leave on a free transfer.

Their recent form has been poor, losing 2-0 and 3-0 to blackburn and rotherham respectively as well as drawing against Bolton. However, they did run out 1-0 winners against wolves so they are still capable of pulling out a performance.

Town on the other hand are going through a bit of a revolution or maybe its more of a revelation. Saturday saw wagner get his first three points in english football, although it seems to be have been coming judging on performances. There will definitely be a change in lineup with dean whitehead out for 6-8 weeks with a knee injury, although elliott ward has come in on loan, but i expect him to feature on the bench, unless herr wagner has the idea of moving cranie into whiteheads role.

my line up would be (tricky on phone)

steer (gk)
Smith (rb)
Hudson (cb)
Cranie (cb)
Chilwell (lb)
Dempsey (cm)
Huws (cm)
Scannell (rw)
Paterson (am)
Lolley (lw)
Wells (st)

With a bench of allinson,ward,hogg,bunn,miller,carayol,holmes
I would also go with a 2-0 town win again as we continue this new brand of football.

I've thought about people who have played for both and can only get as far as stewart and stead.

also before i forget saturday sees town offering tickets for just £10 so no reason not to go down and watch, unless you're like me and bed ridden, if so oggy or sir jeff will have to do...

Sorry it is short and picless. I will pad it out if i recover to go on the l'ordinateur. Smile

Nice one, jjamez. Thumb up

Agree with your line up. Straight swap Dempsey for Whitehead and keep this wagon rolling.

Hope you ain't got the lurgy I had jjamez - took me the best part of 2 months to shake the bugger off.

= better than Night Nurse in roughly equal amounts (or a bit more brandy). Clears my tubes and helps me sleep.  Thumb up No doubt you have your own fave.

Looking forward to another good performance in hopefully some better weather. (Won't hold my breath waiting for the weather).

Watching Newcastle v Liverpool last Sunday, the Magpies seemed to play a better gegenpressing game than Liverpool, so we may well expect that to happen to our lot too at some point in the future if we don't turn up.

Hoping for the 3 points and agree with what's been said, straight swap in for Dempsey. Absolutely gutted about deano. He's shaken off the early critics myself a bit included to become arguably our most important player. If billing was fit I'd have given him a run but hopefully Dempsey can cement his place. In other news: Bolton Wanderers served with a winding-up petition by HMRC
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35061309 this is why we spend wisely. A team desperate to buy their way out of the championship and now facing a winding up Petition. The board ain't perfect but at the moment, in Deano we trust.

5 games in and the Town we all know and love turn up. Until I see the replays I'm going to say Brizzle were offside for both theirs but including the penalty, we missed a bagful. Then again, so did Brizzle. Could have been 4-4 on another day.

RE: huddersfield v brizzle match thread - Lord Snooty - 12-12-2015

Bit of a let down today. Sad

Piss poor defending for both goals, but what are we doing giving away free kicks in that area? Tugging shirts is just stupid and we deserved to get punished. Bad marking for the second, but the first was superbly delivered that any touch from anybody, even a defender, and it was in.

As for the penalty, Wells bottled it and handed the ball to Huws. Apparently Wagner told Huws to take it, but when your the main striker you grab that ball and say I'm taking this. Huws had tweaked his hamstring by this stage and should've spoke up and said he wasn't the right man at that time to take it. There are plenty others on the pitch who could've taken it.
Got to say though that the defensive tackle to clear the rebound by their lad was brilliant.

On a good note, the subs all played well. Bunn's goal deserved to be a match winner, not a consolation. And if Demsey had managed to lift the ball over the keeper to give us that late equaliser, it would've felt like a win.

All in all, three points lost, making Rotherham even more crucial.

the Highlights are inconclusive on any offside for the Bristol goals but clearly shows the Bristol player who blocked the follow up to the penalty was a good clear yard inside the area when Huws took the kick, clear encroachment, still does not excuse the poor penalty though

Set bastard pieces, bread and butter defending, no excuses
