Match Thread - SWFC v Huddersfield Town - St Charles Owl - 19-11-2015 THE MATCH - SATURDAY 21ST NOVEMBER 2015 3PM KO ![]() ![]() I keep seeing this game referred to as a derby game but I for one have never really considered it that way. I suppose we are both in Yorkshire but in reality this is just another game against a team that are not too far away!!! Either way the media these days will make up rivalries out of any tenuous link between clubs just to promote them better!!! Huddersfield are once again too close to the relegation spots for their comfort and definitely too close for the comfort of their owner Dean Hoyle who sacked Chris Powell a couple of weeks ago, although the style of play was probably also a factor in the change. Mark Lillis took charge of their last game, a 3-0 home defeat to L**ds even though their new manager, David Wagner, was already appointed a few days earlier. Wagner is an interesting choice, much like our appointment of CC, he is a foreign coach who previously worked with Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, he was the manager of the BD reserve team that played in the 4th and 3rd tier of German football. His first season in charge saw them promoted to the 3rd tier, but his last season saw them relegated again back to the 4th. I have no idea what standard those divisions are compared to the Championship so it is an appointment that comes with some risk but one that may just work for them. So once again we end up playing a team with a new manager!! ![]() This will be the 53rd meeting between us with our record being W16 D12 L24, so not one of the best records for us. To be fair though we only won 4 of our first 18 games against them that took place during their greatest era in the late 1920s to the early 1930s, so that skews the results a bit!! Our record at home is W10 D7 L8, more worrying is that we have failed to beat them at S6 in the last 5 games, with the last win at home coming in 2004!!! Its high time we stopped that little run of performances!! Here is the video of that incredible 4-4 draw back in 2011 with Rhodes bagging all four of their goals!!! Maybe we should be lloking to sign him, he looks half decent!! ![]() THE LAST MATCH Well I suppose it had to happen at some point but our unbeaten run finally came to an end with a lackluster performance at Charlton. Seems to have been a game too far for some of our players and maybe some criticism has to be aimed at CC for not making more changes to the team, but hindsight is a wonderful thing so after the International break we should be raring to start a new unbeaten run!! Can't be arsed to post a video, lets leave this one in the past and move on!! FUNNY COMMENT FROM LAST MATCH THREAD From Thurnscoe regarding his absence from the last match thread: "not gone missing btw, just working hard and busy with the bird ![]() Ah, the lads gone and virtually got himself hitched and to pay for it is working a shit job at the same time!!!! We really should have warned him what was to come!!! OUR TEAM After two weeks break I expect to see us pretty much revert to our best starting 11 with no rotation required. Hutch is suspended, so maybe Semedo or Lopez will fill in there and Bannan is injured, surely this is McGugans chance to get a run in the team?? Joao is our one player who has not had a rest and has played twice for Portugal in that time, will he start or not?? Aside from that I expect the team to look like this: Westwood Hunt Loovens Lees Pudil Lee Lopez Wallace Forestieri McGugan Joaor WHO'S THE BASTARD IN THE BLACK Ref - CARL BOYESON Asst Refs - Alan Clayton and Marc Edwards Fourth Official - Mark Haywood MS will hopefully give us the skinny on this guy in previous Owls games!! Hopefully we'll bounce back into good form with a win here. Or it could start going pear shaped. I'll go with an optimistic 3-1 Forestieri 22,750 HHADA Looking back at this lot not so long ago. Some interesting players in the squad, including Whelan & Brunt whom had decent careers at PL level. ![]() RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Huddersfield Town - Imre varadi - 19-11-2015 we have lost bannan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() free shirt ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The injury to Bannan is a big one and losing mryellow wont help either ![]() ![]() fcme 3 seconds late !! 3-1 lee then !!!
