Burnley v Huddersfield Town
Saturday 31st October
Kick-off 3pm
at Turf Moor

It's KICK or TREAT this Saturday as Town hope to haunt Burnley.

Our last meeting was in the 2013/14 season before Burnley headed off to spend a year in the Premiership. That meeting resulted in a 3-2 defeat at Turf Moor. Our two goals, believe it or not, coming from Martin Paterson. Our previous three meetings had been a win for us, including our first League win at Turf Moor since 1970!

Played for both

Scotty Arfield - the one that wasn't good enough for the Championship according to one of our number but has managed to stay with Burnley during their recent foray in the Premier League, never mind the Championship. If only he had been given a chance at Town..... let's hope he's not the one haunting us on Saturday. He has just scored his first goal of the season in their derby against Blackburn so he will be buzzin' as they say these days.

Martin Paterson - signed with us from Burnley. He was probably better thought of there than here.

Frank Sinclair - came on loan to us from Burnley and subsequently signed for us.

The legendary Steve Kindon - he had two spells with Burnley before signing for Town and ending his career with us.

David Edgar - the Canadian was with Burnley before signing for Birmingham City and coming to us from them on loan.

Delroy Facey - had a loan spell at Burnley as well as starting his senior career at Town. Currently serving time at her majesty's pleasure due to a match-fixing investigation.

David Unsworth - signed with us from Burnley. He only had a handful of appearances for us before being released from his contract and subsequently retired.

You'll have to help me out with any others.

Form

We dropped down to 15th following our loss to Derby but still above Forest, Leeds and Blackburn.
Burnley went up to 3rd after their win against Blackburn. They are only behind Hull on goal difference.

One thing is for sure, it'll be Nightmare of a game and you won't have to wait until the witching hour to see Town fall behind

Mustapha scareyouall

Lukas jukevitch 'played' for both

RE: Burnley v Huddersfield Town - Lord Snooty - 26-10-2015

I think Phillip Killing might be on the bench.

And possibly Kyller Dempsey.

And on a different subject, legendary Town manager Mick Buxton played for Burnley.

RE: Burnley v Huddersfield Town - WakeyTerrier - 27-10-2015

Yet another away game that I won't be attending, don't get me wrong £24 is acceptable for Championship football but 2 things put me off visiting this weekend. 1) The away stand, this place should be paraded on the Antiques Roadshow, dated to say the least with very poor facilities. 2) Town already have the excuses lined up....can't compete against financial muscle of parachute payments...blah,blah,blah.

So instead depending if the weather is kind it's a trip up to AFC Emley to see the hosts take on bottom of the league Lincoln Moorlands Railways(fit that into a Footy chant) £6 entrance I think, a £1 on the famous Emley Raffle and a few pots in the local and still change from the price of a Burnley ticket.

Depends how the squad pulled up from saturday, scannell went off injured so will boyle (boils) may get on bench but dempsey is the better option. Anyone know whats happening with hogg? Is like vaughan mark 2. Wonder if dean will vito his new contract too?

RE: Burnley v Huddersfield Town - theo_luddite - 27-10-2015

If Whitehead clatters Arfield early on that should slow him down a bit, probably get him booked and mean he will miss the L666s match but do what we must. Lynch is on 4 yellows too so both could be walking on egg-shells for this one. Somehow I doubt it. It's not the way they play.

Rarely more than a goal separating the sides in recent results, I expect this to be close too. At the risk of stealing Mirf's thunder, in league games 25 wins apiece and 10 draws. Burnley have won 15 to our 9 at Turf Moor. They have the upper hand in cup games but this isn't one. They don't sit back in defence especially at home so will be open to counter attacks, assuming we can actually put the ball any where close enough to each other to mount a counter attack.

No chance with this game, will be very happy with a point - but...... we do seem to have a hex over them :poshtohauntyou: wheres the bloody ghost when you need it!!!!

RE: Burnley v Huddersfield Town - MNTerrier - 28-10-2015

for some reason i can see Paterson starting this game as it obvious we need someone in the team who prefers the number 10 role.
i'm oddly optimistic about this one for some reason and i think we'll get something from the game
