Derek Statham gets the magic sponge at Carrow Road, 7th November 1979

Hard and unglamorous work it may have been, but Albion eventually did the necessary to stop the rot last Saturday against Sunderland.  That 1-0 win (is there any other kind?) bought some much-needed breathing space, elbowing a few other teams into peril beneath us, though we remain five points off the relegation zone due to a thumping Newcastle victory on Sunday.  That first win of the season for Steve McLaren came courtesy of Norwich City, who now find themselves joining fellow promoted sides Bournemouth and Watford in an alarming slide down the table.

From an Albion perspective, with a difficult November ahead, it's crucial to get points on the board in the next couple of matches if only as insurance against Newcastle going on their usual autumn winning streak, and also - with any luck - to deny Norwich a win which would lift them back above us.  Easier said than done, you may think, given what happened to us at Carrow Road just last month.  I'm hoping that Pulis will look to atone for that defeat out of professional pride if nothing else, though the shadow of our tactics at Selhurst Park on the last awayday do loom large in the mind, unfortunately.

It goes without saying that the Canaries need a psychological boost after suffering such a setback on Tyneside last weekend, so I doubt they'll be overly cautious in their approach.  The question is how eager we'll be to hit back.

Peter Odemwingie fires past Declan Rudd to bag three points for Albion, 11th September 2011

Wow, was that Odemwingie goal that long ago ? 4 years has flown by. Drove to that game and spent most of the journey back singing Odemwingie to Depeche Modes just can't get enough.
That was when we liked the c**t.
Mind you Norwich battered us that day and we won 1-0. Maybe things haven't changed that much !

As I recall, it was also the last game that Tamas was a first-choice centre-half for us. Right at the end he elbowed some Norwich player in the face at a free-kick and got banned. McAuley made his first team debut in the very next game, and four years on we haven't looked back!

That sounds about right ska'd, what a servant G-Mac has been (still is !)
Think it will be the normal backs to the wall lets scrape a 0-0
Dodgy
But you never know, fingers crossed that Sess plays and we go for it...

I do think with Sessegnon and Berahino both probably starting and a couple of others who are useful going forward we could actually have a threat on the counter (remember that Berahino goal against West Ham last season, around January when him and Sess took the ball from our half), we are capable of it on occasion. I'm expecting a reaction from Norwich after their embarrassment last week though.

Jonny Evans is pivotal also. TP's historical reproduction of the Alamo at Palace was going to plan (0-0) until Evans went off and it all went Pete Tong.
Never thought I would be pinning my hopes on Sess but to be fair, on his day he can beat his man and might just be the person to jump out the trenches and cross no mans land between our midfield and forward line !
Wonder if TP has considered special forces help to parachute him in cos it's a bloody long way to run...

I'm a home season ticket holder but it's getting to the point now where I prefer away games because it means I don't have to sit and watch the bloody things. I should be feeling disappointed that I'm not going to a football match but these days it's just relief! Norwich were awful last week against Newcastle, so it's a game we should really be looking to win.
