Kevin Keelan punches clear from Ally Robertson and Tony Brown as Albion face Norwich in the League Cup third round; 9th October 1974

Hot on the heels of Saturday's morale-boosting heroics comes our trip to Carrow Road to once again pursue our annual dreams of cup glory.  It's pretty much the typical sort of tie for this stage of the tournament; a game against fellow Premier League opposition which will probably be won by whichever side can actually be bothered on the night.  It'd be nice to think that might be us on this occasion, having surrendered so disappointingly in last season's (fairly promising) cup campaigns, but Norwich have been putting on a good show since their return to the top tier, and home advantage could potentially sway things their way on a cold autumn night.

Line-up's a tough one to call, but the likes of Lindegaard and Chester could well see some game time, and Ricky Lambert might get another chance to prove himself after a lacklustre start to the season.  Given that the match has to be resolved on the night, I hope we can stick to the more ambitious, adventurous style we used to such good effect on Saturday rather than retreating into our shell again.  It'll be well worth it when Craig Gardner scores the winner at Wembley next March Whistle

COME ON YOU BAGGIES

Agree with what you said, a few changes but a strong team, Gnabry is the main one I want to see, try our best and we have a decent chance of making the next round, hopefully they'll be up for it. Also come on Blues against Villa.

I hope we are firing on all cylinders for this. We hear that 'a good cup run' is something the club wants and TP loves the Cup competitions. But do the players buy into this? Evidence from the last round is that they don't!

I note TP has this morning warned fans that a changed team will be fielded due to knocks and niggles after the Villa game.

TP just released a statement "warning fans" that he has to make 4 or 5 "enforced" changes for Norwich.  I wonder if he means SB and he has put out this statement not for our benefit, but for the media so they don't start all the speculation again. Personally I think this is possible good news if the likes of Gamboa, Gnarby and Poc get a chance to show TP what they can do. Then its up to them.

That's a good point Salops - only hope that, if these players DO impress,  TP then DOES give them a fair chance  Thumb up

Hoping for a good result tomorrow but my main feeling about this week's matches is that there's almost nothing of any interest in the way of possible major shocks - presumably the result of the appalling seeding system which meant most lower league teams have already gone out. A real shame.

I beg to differ; it'll be a major shock if Villa make it through tonight Whistle

In all the excitement of the derby day win against Aston Villa, a rather remarkable new West Bromwich Albion club record was somewhat overlooked.

The 1-0 success at Villa Park ensured Albion clinched a fourth consecutive shutout to move up to 12th in the table.

But, more significantly, it meant West Brom had kept clean sheets in their opening three away league matches for the first time in the club's 137-year history.

Credit to Blues, they were really good first half. Can tell why they've started so well and really hope they do good this season.
