Sorry but............. - WillieJohnstonsGreenhouse - 11-09-2015

I am sick of moaning about the modern game -  I really am.

It is what it is,
but this says an awful lot about what a pile of shif it's become and how the original game is no more.

The Football Association has apologised for omitting one of England's most prolific scorers from a roll of honour at Wembley Stadium.
Bolton Wanderers legend Nat Lofthouse was absent from a plaque listing every England player's debut.

I never saw Lofthouse but my old man, uncles, neighbours etc would talk for hours about him and his ilk - he was a legend and they made sure I knew it - I didn't really understand as it's before my time but the way they talked I knew he must have been a bit special.

It's like someone putting up a roll of honour at The Hawthorns and missing out Bomber

No need to reply to this as there's nothing really to say (but feel free by all means) Just needed to get it off my chest.

My Dad used to say that these were the top post-War England players: Matthews, Finney, Lofthouse.
I was excited to see Nat play (my 2nd match) when Cup-winning Bolton played us in '58 (1-1), and Finney a few weeks later for PNE (1-1).

Imagine the furore if they had missed Golden Bollocks from the plaque!!!

It'd be good if the FA published the process they went through to identify the step that went wrong and identify the individual who made the boo-boo, and then for all to explain exactly how the Lion of Vienna (38 caps, 30 goals) was overlooked when somehow their databases managed to remember the name of stars like Matt Jarvis (sum total of 20 minutes as a sub in a friendly against Ghana).

I was only saying yesterday that modern football is so BORING compared to when we had the late 70's team.

That team into 1982 was brilliant, played fast flowing football. Once Willie Johnston or Laurie Cunningham got the ball out wide, they wouldn't turn back to the half way line they would fly down the wing or do a quick one two then off to the by-line to get a cross over.

I hate this boring sideways, backwards stuff and with TP its sideways, backwards then HOOOOOOOF down the middle. Its killing me and as I have said on another thread even though I have a season ticket I really can't be arsed any more. I'm taking a break, it's sad but I might even go and watch the Saddlers (whom I have always had a soft spot)who although are league one are playing some decent football and deserve better support.

Albion already have my season ticket money so no slagging me off please, just racked off with WBA at minute, its taken 40 years for me to get to this point but there it is.

World-class, have similar emotions, only I have no season ticket, living away I am lucky to get to one or two games a season, at the moment can not be arsed to even look at what games i will be able to get to. Retire next year after thirty years, planning on moving back with a view to getting a season ticket but unless TP gets us entertaining it may stay on hold.
