Huddersfield Vs Blackburn

Date: August 15th
Venue: John Smith Stadium ( power permitting)

On Saturday Huddersfield welcome Blackburn Rovers to the john smith stadium for the first home league game of the season.
it would seem that this is already a critical game for both teams, Huddersfield fans optimism evaporated quickly after the poor pre season results have continued into the season and the frustration of fans was exasperated Tuesday with a disjointed and inept performance against league 2 Notts County in the league cup
The Squad is already showing a lack of depth, missing Vaughan, Scannell and Lolley the team seemed devoid of any pace and power . any width was very one sided. Powell attempted to force width into the team by playing Smith and Davidson as wingbacks, the experiment has failed miserably.
both players are naturally defensive players and while Davidson obviously struggled with being caught out of position too often, Smith looked completely out of his depth and was subbed both games.
Although town created chances the past 2 games they have lacked a cutting edge, in this division you need to be clinical as you wont get 15 chances every game, you may only get a couple and they have to be taken.
its hard to believe that the cor of this team is the same that went 7 games unbeaten at the end of last season and at times played some good football. It seems Chris Powell has fallen under the Huddersfield Managers Curse and has compromised the talent of the team by playing overly defensive football early injuries and lack of squad depth have not helped the cause , can we please bring in a decent centre back and why not give young Hanson a shot at right back, hes been impressive in the U21s and at this point honestly what do we have to lose

Blackburn's start to the season has been as disappointing as Huddersfields, an opening day Loss to a resurgent Wolves was followed by by a league cup loss the Shrewsbury having already lost key players this year the major talking point around Blackburn Rovers right now revolves around the fate of former Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes, will he stay or will he go.

Confidence is low for both teams, the question will be on Saturday who can lift themselves up and maybe kickstart their season, you could argue the pressure is on Town being the home team, if the game starts to go badly the crowd will let their frustrations be known.

Team

Its imperative that Town come out of the block flying and go on the attack early, so for me its back to basics let the defenders defend and let the midfielders move the ball forward and get it wide as often as possible. so 4-4-2 with our full backs being actual fullbacks, a central midfield of Hogg and Butterfield. Hogg playing in front of the back four and Butterfield behind the strikers , if Scannell is fit he has to start as he gives us much needed pace the same with Vaughan , when hes on his game hes as good as any striker in the league and can head a cross on target

if Scannell isnt fit then hopefully Lolley is, if both are still out then why not give someone like Holmes a try out wide, he has the pace and skill and can cross a ball. if Vaughan still isnt fit then Miller would start for me

Another option if those players are not fit would be a 4-3-3
I'm not convinced by Whitehead, which is a shame as on paper he was a good signing so a middle 3 of Hogg, Butterfield and Dempsey for me
a front 3 of Miller central with Wells and Bunn on either side

Nice one, MNT.  Thumb up

Scans did the half time draw last night and said he is definitely available for Saturday.

RE: Huddersfield Vs Blackburn - ritchiebaby - 12-08-2015

Don't worry, Town will definitely be much better on Saturday. They've been so bad, I've been drafted in to attend my first Town home match. If the first half is as bad as usual, I'll be down in that dressing room banging a few heads together. The season starts now for Town. Give me something to celebrate. Thumb up

RE: Huddersfield Vs Blackburn - WakeyTerrier - 13-08-2015

Run for the Hills Ritchiebaby, you are in for a horror show this weekend....having said that I watched Rangers v Queens Park in the play offs last season and it can't be any worse than that.

Ok folks....lump on

Rhodes to score the 1st goal of the game 5-1
Rhodes to score a brace 9/1
Rhodes to bag a hat-trick 66/1
Rhodes to score and Blackburn to win 10/3

£31 for a seat in the main stand lower tier if you pay on the day on Saturday!!

With in mind I'm saying the official crowd will be less than 11000

RE: Huddersfield Vs Blackburn - Amelia Chaffinch - 13-08-2015

Ritchie will be fine - he gets the pleasure of sitting next to me all afternoon. Wink Meeting up with him again is certainly what's making it worthwhile me going anyway. I tweeted WYS on Tuesday saying that I was wondering why we keep shelling out. They misquoted me mindst! Doh What we pay would pay for a holiday instead. In times when we are all changing our priorities out of necessity, the club could do to remember that they need to throw us a bone once in a while and give us something worth watching.  Tongue

RE: Huddersfield Vs Blackburn - Jeebers - 13-08-2015

Town will lose this  Sad how quickly my optimism turns, anyway I'm in Faliraki for two weeks so I at least I will be moaning about how shit they are while I'm in the sunshine, by the pool with a Mythos

Thumb up Now I'm optimistic again.......................................................... Thumb down Just changed my mind again, see what I mean up and down like bastard yoyo

RE: Huddersfield Vs Blackburn - theo_luddite - 13-08-2015

Tuesday would have been a miserable neet in dear ol' Glasgae toon if it hadn't been for the large glass of red wine an' a few pints a' heavy that were washing down my meal and keeping the Town induced gloom in the gloamin' at bay (apologies to all our readers and contributors north of the border).

Sitting in the stand this Saturday, I'll be relying on a couple of pre-match shandies, so come on Town get yer fingers out and send us home with a smile. PLEASE!!!!! It's my first and last home game before I go on holiday at the end of the month.

RE: Huddersfield Vs Blackburn - ritchiebaby - 13-08-2015

Wakey - I'm sure it was Queen of the South you saw, but no matter, the English Championship is a big step-up from the Scottish Championship.
Amelia - now you tell me!!! Tongue
theo - you're excused. There'll be no faffin' about on Saturday. I'll be watching a reight good game with a champion result.

RE: Huddersfield Vs Blackburn - WakeyTerrier - 14-08-2015

Ritchie- yes it probably was, I've tried to blank the whole day out of my memory.

I'm getting a theme here, Jeebers on the Mythos...theo on the wine and beer. Town are obviously turning us all into alcoholics....speaking of which Ritchie has Amelia informed you of the grand old tradition that newcomers buy the rest of us a pint on matchday! Mines a pint of overpriced flat lager, and I should be about ready for it after 30mins(or 0-1 whichever comes first) Amelia or Snooty will point you in my direction.
