A GAME OF TWO HALVES - kicks off - Devongone - 29-07-2015
A Game of Two Halves is a fun prediction game, based on both successful and unsuccessful teams. My aim in doing this is to bring together fans of different teams across Babble, so it is a game for anyone to enter.
Players choose 8 clubs they think will do well this season. These will be their UPS. They can be from any of the four divisions of English football, the National League (Conference) or the Scottish Divisions. There is no limitation on the number of clubs that can be selected from any one division. It is up to you to decide whether lower divisions, Scottish football, or even National League offers any form of advantage.
From the same nucleus of clubs players then choose 8 clubs they think will do particularly badly. These will be their DOWNS.
Scores will be calculated and published weekly. Scores will be calculated on league matches, FA and Scottish Cup matches only (1st round proper on).
As you will see from the scoring system UPS teams gain points by doing well, whilst DOWNS teams succeed by failure.
There will be a brief transfer window from 4-8 January in which a player can replace one UPS choice and one DOWN choice.
The winner will be the player who scores the highest number of points at season’s close.
To enter, reply on this thread clearly listing the eight teams you are choosing as UPS and the eight teams you want to use as DOWNS. Scoring starts on games played over weekend of 8th August. So that’s 16 teams, 8 of ‘em winners, 8 of ‘em pants.
Give your team of UP AND DOWNS an amusing, witty or boring name of up to 16 letters and spaces. ONE ENTRY EACH ONLY PLEASE. Don’t use this thread for correspondence, but there’s no reason we couldn’t start another thread if people wanted.
