Arsenal vs WBA - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 21-05-2015 And so we come to the end of another turbulent season, signing off with a trip to the Emirates; the place where, almost five years ago, it felt like we'd finally made it as a Premier League club when we took Arsenal apart on a balmy (and barmy) September day. Typically, we've been unable to even take a point from there since, although with each season, Arsenal's performances and winning margins have grown less convincing. Going into this weekend, they've sewn up second place in the league and have one eye on a second successive FA Cup triumph; they didn't look especially inspired against Sunderland, and with the momentum from our thumping victory against the champions on Monday, it could be that we're on course for another memorable day in Holloway. Even if that proves not to be the case, we're guaranteed at least a 13th place finish, which is a great achievement after our appalling winter, and is something for us to build on next year. After two years of chaos, that's good enough for me. All the best to everyone, and let's hope the summer gives us plenty more to smile about. RE: Arsenal vs WBA - Match Thread - betterthanbaird - 21-05-2015 I think they'll rest players and throw in some youngsters with the cup final in mind and we should get something. It would be very harsh to drop anyone after such a brilliant performance on Monday so I'd like to see us unchanged. Adil Nabi deserves a place on the bench and a bit of game time imo, same for any other academy products who are of a similar ability, I don't know who they are (maybe Samir) but I can't see Pulis giving more than one youngster a go. It could be playing on his mood that we have a chance to overtake Palace. Could this be anyone's last game realistically? I suppose Saido but I can see us managing to keep him for next season. Hopefully he'll level and surpass Odemwingie's 15 from his debut season. (You couldn't bump the goalscorers thread, when you have the time Ska'd?). Maybe McAuley or Olsson playing their last game and they've both earned huge ovations over the last few years. I hope our fans are really up for this (we got any theme going?) and we out-sing and outplay Arsenal. RE: Arsenal vs WBA - Match Thread - derbybaggie - 21-05-2015 Thanks Ska'd for all your match threads they have been extremely entertaining, brought back some great memories and built up the anticipation for the following weekend. I tried to update it earlier this week following the Chelsea game, but unfortunately some kind of glitch with the site wiped the whole chart out when I clicked save, and I can't really be arsed re-doing the whole thing for the sake of a couple of games. Saido's scored 14 in the league, so a brace this weekend would see him outdo Odemwingie's 15. In terms of his total PL goals for us, I think he's now level with Shane Long. Really excellent articles, Ska'd, and please let us know when your second book comes out. I'm looking forward to it. After wiping the floor with Chelsea, I've told two Arsenal fans at work 'You're next'. RE: Arsenal vs WBA - Match Thread - Stairs - 22-05-2015 The match threads have been excellent.
