Workers plight in Qatar - meandbrenarebaggies - 20-05-2015

Qatar is due to host the World Cup in 2022.  Thousands of slave-workers are enduring

high risk of death and serious injury building the infra-structure.  The vast majority of
football followers are not aware of this tragic background.  We should use mass communication media platforms to start a campaign against these conditions.  The trophy
may well be held aloft by a winning captain but the blood of the workers will be dripping
over the brim.  Lives are worth more than a few games of football.

I would love to see a World Wide movement, via social media, encouraging a fans boycott of that WC.

Imagine, all that money spent, all that 'crossing palms', advertising, sponsorship only to find that NOBODY turns up to watch.... Big Grin

I agree totally........Feckin Blatter is so corrupt and nothing is done. HOW can Qatar get a world cup??? How can Russia get a world cup????? when so racist.

We have not had it for 50 years and will still have to wait t least another 11 years ,yet we have the best league in the world, the best stadia and the best infrastructure. It really pi55es me off. I hope to god he gets beaten BUT I doubt it very much, as money/gifts talk.

John Oliver (british comedian in usa) did a big thing against Blatter recently, probably on youtube for those who are interested, I saw that Xavi is going to play in Qatar and he's becoming an ambassador for the world cup there which is very disappointing.

Here is that episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.  He is very good and has a unique way of covering a story!!

Regarding the working conditions in Qatar, some experts reckon 63 workers will die during construction for each match that takes place in the World Cup, that is an awful statistic!!!
