Absolutely shocking sentence. How a judge can send him down for such a petty crime is beyond me.

Personally I don't care whether he goes to jail or not for a crime such as this. What I want to see is him being banned from earning any money whatsoever from football. Whether that is a FIFA, UEFA, FA, FL, PL, PFA or whatever organisation banning him, he should not be allowed to make a living form the sport that he tried to harm.

Who has he harmed apart from some illegal Far East bookmaker?
Nobody in this country lost money over it.
If he gets jailed for this, then any cheating, diving Premiership twat who cheats punters out of money by illegally conning a referee into awarding a crucial penalty, deserves to go to prison as well.

Yes but what did he actually fix? Nobody has said. It all seems circumstantial to me. Messages on phones etc. He hasn't been caught with a brown envelope stuffed with fivers.
Alright so he was found guilty by a court. Fair enough. I just think jail is a very harsh sentence.

To be honest, I don't think any games were fixed by Facey and the 2.5 years in the slammer is harsh, the only thing he is guilty of is being a very silly boy by even thinking about doing anything like fixing a game. I still don't believe that one person out of 22 players can fix a game, there are far far too many variables, too much margin for error.

considering a football only served a couple of years for a far more serious offense and and a half years for trying to fix the result in some games seems on the harsh side

Considering 3 of the 4 Pakistani cricketers got far less for actually being convicted of match/spot fixing rather than just making a clumsy attempt to fix a match or two his sentence is harsh.
