Championship POTY - Terrier1987cas - 20-04-2015 Patrick Bamford won the award last night, but he's done nothing to impress me when I've seen him live in person. Who have been the best 3 players you've seen live against us this season? I'll start: 1) Callum Wilson (Bournemouth) - Yes it was the first game of the season and yes it was a complete debacle that led to Robins quitting, but the guy looked class and has carried that form into the season to be the spearhead of Bournemouth's promotion push. He bullied Lynch which not many players do, was strong, constantly offered an outlet, and took his goals very well. 2) Alex Pritchard (Brentford) - I really rate this lad and he's had a brilliant season with Brentford, looking good in both games against us. We beat them at our place but he still got MOTM for me, at the heart of everything they did and we couldn't get near him when he started off on a run - as I recall he was very unlucky with a couple of long range shots as well. At their place he was the main cause of trouble as they demolished us, he looks a superb little player. 3) Nathan Redmond (Norwich) - Superb, tricky little player who we haven't been able to handle in either fixture. It was 0-0 at their place when he came on at HT and stole the show, integral to everything they did as they ended up beating us 5-0. He's quick, got immense trickery and a good end product, and again tormented us in the home game, although it should be noted he was up against a terrible Jake Carroll on that occasion. So who are your 3 picks if making a shortlist for Championship POTY? RE: Championship POTY - WakeyTerrier - 20-04-2015 I can't really argue with any of your choices Cas, all three have had excellent seasons. I'd also chuck in Troy Deeney as a candidate who for the third season running has hit the 20 goal mark for Watford. RE: Championship POTY - Lord Snooty - 20-04-2015 One of the best to play against us was Connor Salmon. Glad he stayed sat down on Saturday. And the boy Wilson who took us apart on the opening day. But you mentioned him already. ![]() RE: Championship POTY - ARTERRIER - 20-04-2015 Bamford? The guy looks like Bambi on ice!! He has an eye for goal but there are better players in thus league than him. Think Mourinho has nobbled the judges. RE: Championship POTY - MNTerrier - 20-04-2015 that would be the Alex Pritchard that Dean offered to sign for Robins , but robins said "nah hes too small" RE: Championship POTY - Lord Snooty - 20-04-2015 Jordan Rhodes got into the team of the decade (strange thing to choose half way through a decade) and rightly so as the best goalscorer in the Football League never to grace the Premier League. But how the frig did Gareth Bale get in there. ![]() The Football Manager Team of the Decade is as follows: Goalkeeper: Kasper Schmeichel Defender: Angel Rangel Defender: Gareth Bale Defender: Wes Morgan Defender: Ashley Williams Midfielder: Wes Hoolahan Midfielder: Adam Lallana Midfielder: Peter Whittingham Forward: Glenn Murray Forward: Rickie Lambert Forward: Jordan Rhodes Manager: Eddie Howe RE: Championship POTY - EastLondonTerrier - 21-04-2015 Wilson or Deeney for me. Deeney we kept quiet at our place but he has everything for a premier league striker. Pace, power, aggression, great finish, good in the air. Beggars belief he hasn't left watford sooner but thats probably they did the classic 'overcharge any english player' for something like 8 million. Part of me wants watford to stay in the championship as it's a game I can get to easily but another part wants them to get promoted so he can test himself against premier league opposition as that sort of player deserves to. Same with Rhodes but who will buy him when they're already charging 7 mil for Gestede. If these players aren't careful, their clubs will stop them from ever progressing to the highest level. Tough one but purely for how he has led the line, have to be Wilson for me. Was hugely surprised at choice of Bamford. RE: Championship POTY - theo_luddite - 21-04-2015 Will Hughes at Derby usually impresses me when I see him play. Looked a bit ring rusty coming back from suspension against Town on Saturday before going off injured. Like Snoots, no idea how Bale is in that line up. He was at Spurs from 2007 onwards, but also why do you pick a team of the decade only halfway through it? RE: Championship POTY - SHEP_HTAFC - 22-04-2015 I don't get why Eddie Howe is the manager of the decade.....he did take Bournemouth up from League 2 to Championship....however Paul Lambert surely has a better record. He took Norwich from League 1 to Prem in only 2 seasons. Surely a better achievement. As is Nigel Adkins at Southampton. Did the same thing as Lambert. I would give it to Howe if he takes Bournemouth up this season......but that has yet to be achieved. RE: Championship POTY - WakeyTerrier - 22-04-2015 Howe has done a better job than most give him credit for 08/09 he was appointed manager of basement club Bournemouth and despite them starting the season on -17pts he saved them from the drop to the conference 09/10 despite still being under a transfer embargo he lead them to promotion from League 2 by finishing runners up After his spell at Burnley he returned to Bournemouth and lead them to promotion to the Championship And right now he stands on the verge of leading them up to the premiership |
