Raith Rovers v Hibs - 28/03/15 - ritchiebaby - 26-03-2015 Raith Rovers certainly opened up the race for the fourth place in the Championship with last night's 3-0 home win over Queen of the South. They seemed to be good value for money too and are still a danger to the teams above them. Getting fourth place themselves should be beyond them, as Falkirk won as well keeping the gap between them at 7 points. At Easter Road, Raith have serious form drawing 1-1 in both games, thanks to a certain Christian Nade. But at the previous game at Starks Park, Hibs came away with a 3-1 win and I'm looking for a similar result this time. The game against Rangers is gone now and should be forgotten about. The previous time Hibs lost a game, they went on a 15-game unbeaten run and that's the best way to put a bad result behind you. The Hibs display against Rangers had little spark and that's what Hibs need to put right. Back to the displays where we took control early and built up a head of steam and the rest should take care of itself. Presumably Jason Cummings will not be available, but if he has recovered, he is a stick-on for a starting place. My team (to redeem themselves) Oxley, Gray, Fontaine, Hanlon, Stevenson, Fyvie, McGeouch, Robertson, Allan, Malonga, Dja Djedje. Subs - Watson, Boyle, Stanton. If they're not redeeming themselves, get the substitutes on early enough to make a difference and not as a last resort! RE: Raith Rovers v Hibs - 28/03/15 - ritchiebaby - 27-03-2015 Alan Stubbs says Farid El Alagui will be in the squad for tomorrow, so I'd expect him to get at least 20 minutes in the second half, with a slim chance of him starting the game. It seems that Dja Djedje and, to a lesser degree, Malonga need a bit of competition for their places. If Cummings is fit, I'd expect him to start alongside Malonga, with El Alagui replacing Dja Djedje and Boyle as my preferred substitute for the strikers. RE: Raith Rovers v Hibs - 28/03/15 - ritchiebaby - 28-03-2015 Hibs are starting with Watson in defence instead of Hanlon, who isn't even on the bench, and Stanton in place of Dja Djedje in what will probably be a 4-4-1-1 formation. Cummings and El Alagui are both named as substitutes, along with Dja Djedje and Boyle, making 4 attacking possibilities later in the game. Containment then all-out attack? RE: Raith Rovers v Hibs - 28/03/15 - ritchiebaby - 28-03-2015 We seem to have done everything except score. Early on we've had two shots saved, a David Gray shot hit the post and then, midway through the half, a Dominique Malonga header hit the bar! So far, so good, but we definitely need a goal or two to make our good play worthwhile. Let's keep our concentration levels up and step up a gear. Just to prove that Hibs need to score when they're on top, Raith Rovers have scored with their first shot on target through Mark Stewart. Now Hibs are back level with a Fraser Fyvie tap-in, just 3 minutes after going behind. Raith Rovers re-take the lead with a goal from Lewis Vaughan with less than 10 minutes to go. That man Christian Nade was involved once again. Final score - Raith Rovers 2 Hibs 1. Now the fun begins!!! Hibs MUST take advantage when they're on top or they will struggle. RE: Raith Rovers v Hibs - 28/03/15 - HerefordBull - 28-03-2015 Starting to bottle things again. Rangers building up a head of steam and I can see them easily getting second spot. They would then be odds on to win the play offs. Next week is a must win or the season could go swiftly downhill. It will show how this team is doing as teams from the last few years would fall away with a whimper. GGTTH RE: Raith Rovers v Hibs - 28/03/15 - Fredstersafool - 28-03-2015 Hope you sort it out even if it means six games RE: Raith Rovers v Hibs - 28/03/15 - ritchiebaby - 29-03-2015 Alan Stubbs says "I can't fault their effort, the way they played, chances created. The stats won't lie today but maybe the result did." ritchiebaby says " The stats didn't lie, but neither did the result." Let's see now - 57% possession - tick, 15 corners to their 2 - tick, 20 shots to their 6 - tick, 5 shots on target to their 4 - very poor return for Hibs, 1 goal to their 2 - extremely poor return for Hibs. And there lies the problem, not enough goals for the times we are on top during games. It's most definitely our Achilles heel. I've no doubt that Alan Stubbs is doing all the right things, but now is the time of the season when teams need to be ruthless. Others can do it. So, come on Hibs, I know we're never happy unless we do things the hard way, but let's do it. ![]() |
