THE LAST MATCH
Dreadful, pathetic, woeful, disappointing, wasteful etc etc etc!! Not really anything positive to say about the whole game except for the fact it must have shown DC that we are definitely lacking in a number of places, including management and he will need to fix these before the summer!! Of course I cannot help but think he probably already knows that anyway and is just waiting a respectful amount of time before changing things!! For those wishing to relive it, here is the video, to spare us its the short version!!
THE MATCH - SAT 21ST MARCH 2015 15.00 GMT
Local derby this weekend away at Toytown!! Down the years I have never really seen them as rivals mainly because we haven't played them much but aside from the Blunts this is the closest team to us so I suppose now they are fighting above their weight the rivalry will be there!! Of course, this is there cup final, by all accounts they do not like us, so this is the one they want to win and that desire is often the difference between teams in a derby game!! SG needs to get us up for this one somehow, and from the start of the first half rather than the second!! The ticket allocation they gave us also doesn't mean we will have the usual size of support for this one but I am sure the backing will be there all the same, lets hope the team responds to that!!
This will only be the 33rd meeting between us with none before 1934, no matches in the 1940s or 1990s and only a few in the 60s or 80s. Overall our record is W15, D6, L11, so not great when you consider the gulf between the size of the two teams. One thing worth pointing out though is that we usually play them when we are one a downward trend in our history, predominantly in the pub league. Our last match at this level prior to this season was 1983!! Of our last 10 games against them we have W3 D2 L5, so not great and again shows that they probably get up for this fixture more than we do!!! Earlier this season the fixture at S6 was a 0-0 bore draw, so this one has to be better than that.
CLASSIC MATCH
The words Rotherham and classic don't really go together but I have found a video of the last time we won at their place (although it was at Millmoor not NY Stadium) in a Carling Cup tie in 2007. A game we went 1-0 down in before coming back to win 3-1 with goals from Whelan, Burton and Small. COG played for them that night as well.
