Grudges - Amelia Chaffinch - 19-03-2015

Our area manager (a blade) called in today and, upon seeing my Town mug, came out with a (mild) diatribe about the playoff final. He did make a joke of Simonsen's skied penalty but it was obvious that there is still a grudge against us, although he said it would have been worse if i'd been a Wednesday fan!

Now we wouldn't resent anyone, would we? Like Posh, for instance. Whistle

In view of comments on the Bradford thread, what team or player pushes your buttons and why?

Posh- Black Thursday, enough said.

Used to have an issue with Barnsley, since they didn't bother to turn up on last day of season, at Portsmouth I think. Contributed to our relegation on final day that season. However, I have mellowed somewhat these days.

Posh - Old Trafford. Don't think I'll ever get over that.

Luton. Can't stand them.. Even though Eric Morecambe was a fan. They had a right cock end of a chairman in the 80s and he went on to become a Tory mp. Always had a grudge against them since those days and my only ever visit there was for an FA Cup defeat from that time. Shitty club, shitty ground, shitty fans. Enjoyed watching them plummet down the league.

Aside from the obvious rivalries we all have I really can't stand Liverpool!! Stems back to the 80s and 90s when we played there a few times and all the shite commentators would say about how knowlegeable their fans were when in reality there was always trouble waiting for away fans!! I know all teams had their fair share of nutters in those times but going to Anfield was almost as bad as going to Stamford Bridge or Upton Park, yet the media lauded over their fans all the time!! Also can't stand You'll Never Walk Alone, can't stand the song anyway and its even worse now that they always sing it before every game!!!

Ironically I have been to Goodison, just half a mile away from Anfield, and that experience was always a good one and I always found their fans much better than Liverpool's both in and out of the ground!! Its a bit like Manchester used to be, the proper Mancs were City fans with the prawn sandwich brigade following United, in liverpool the Everton fans seemed to be the "real" scousers!!

RE: Grudges - HighlandTerrier58 - 20-03-2015

I listened to Russell Crowe waxing lyrical about L@@ds yesterday and it made me feel physically ill. As a kid we sometimes went to see them when Town were away [Dad worked Saturday mornings] just to see a game. No particular grudge then but along came Revie. He turned them into the snarlingly aggressive and arrogant outfit which earned the justified contempt of football supporters throughout the land. This arrogance was rapidly transferred to their fans who set new standards in terms of mindless violence, conceit and self righteous indignation if anyone called them to task. They are, as Ritchiebaby would say, a shower of 'clowns' and it is good to know that in a rapidly changing world, some things remain constant. I despise them.
When dinosaurs roamed the earth I saw Peterborough play in their first season in the Football League. There were 20,000 at Bradford Park Avenue that night and Kevin Hector scored Avenue's winner. Everyone was pleased to see Posh in the league. You will be pleased to know that recent play off oriented events and the behaviour of their sad chairman have made me radically revise my opinion. I can't stand them either.

Anthony Gerrard might be causing a few grudges after the interview he did today
