Jeff Astle - WillieJohnstonsGreenhouse - 09-03-2015 It may be too soon for some but I'd just like to thank all the fans from other teams for respecting Jeff this season ![]() RIP Jeff - what we'd do for you now RE: Jeff Astle - Baggievicar - 09-03-2015 Good post, Willie, and good photo - who's the old codger in the background? RE: Jeff Astle - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 10-03-2015 We never played Watford competitively until the League Cup in 1977. RE: Jeff Astle - silverbaggie - 10-03-2015 I suggested Watford for obvious reasons but, I bow to your superior knowledge Ska'd. I think I'm correct in saying that (in Jeff's time) away teams always wore their normal strip unless there was a colour clash with the home side. I have looked at the pages of my Matthews book and can only suggest that the picture was taken at a home tie against Dinamo Bucharest in the Cup Winners Cup. RE: Jeff Astle - Worldclassalbion - 10-03-2015 Looks like Dietmar Haman's dad ![]() |
